  1. Surprised McGregor has gotten so many votes. I'm not entirely certain that people who voted for McGregor know the caliber of Mayweather's skillset.
  2. Manuwa vs Oezdemir Holy. Crap. After seeing what Manuwa did to OSP, I thought he would make short work of Oezdemir. Manuwa was a legitimate top 5 contender, and he went down like a sack of potatoes to a guy whose only had 2 fights in the UFC prior to this. The punches thrown in the clinch by Oezdemir didn't even look that hard, but I guess they were enough to shake up Manuwa and get him on the retreat which led to him getting slept. Will definitely be monitoring Oezdemir going into the future. Cowboy vs Lawler Ended up being a great match, as expected. I liked Robbie's strategy in the first round to apply early pressure on Cowboy, but Cowboy had a bit of a saving grace with the takedown. The second round proved that Lawler is nowhere near titleshot shape as he pretty much took the round off to recover. All around, a great fight. I feel like Robbie deserved the win, but it could have gone either way tbh. (Savage corner commentary from Lawler's cornermen too hahaha..."BOY GOT NO LIVER") Cyborg vs Evinger This went about as well as it could have for Evinger. Cyborg is something else. I never realized how technical of a striker she was until tonight. Evinger, on the other hand, was displaying some Rousey-esque striking...wild haymakers that were nowhere close to connecting. I was surprised with Evinger's endurance, however. She took a hell of a beating and ate some shots that would have put many other fighters out. I think she knows how to roll with the strikes to soften them up quite well. There was no way Evinger was going to win that, though. From the atrocious striking to her 3rd-grade art teacher physique, there wasn't anything about her that posed a threat to Cris. Hard to imagine that Evinger is the BW champ in Invicta... Woodley vs Maia Knew this was going to be a snooze fest from the get-go. Maia is too one-dimensional for a fighter like Woodley. Woodley is an incredible wrestler and has amazing TDD (the best after this fight in the UFC, if I'm not mistaken). No way in hell was Maia going to get him down...and on the feet, Maia had no chance. The thing is, is Maia took this fight on relatively short notice. I felt that if he had time to prepare, he could have devised a better strategy and potentially found a way to beat Woodley. He also took some decent damage in the Masvidal fight...I feel bad for the guy. He's been getting shafted by the UFC since forever, and now that he finally had his chance, the odds were against him. As for Woodley, I hope I never have to see him fight again. I respect his style and what he's doing, but Dana White nailed it on the head when he said that a fighter can't expect to be rewarded without any risk. If Woodley is hoping for money fights, he has to do his share and make people want to watch him fight. Camping the cage is not going to do that. As bad as it sounds, I hope someone beats Woodley so we never have to see him headline/co-headline an event again. He has so much potential, but refuses to risk it. Just look at him - he's a god damn silverback gorilla. He could be a fantastic for drawing JUST BLEED fans if he quit playing the safe game. Jones vs Cormier I didn't know how to feel about this. It was the most bittersweet fight I've ever watched in the UFC. On one hand, it was heart-breaking to see DC lose, especially in that manner. If you've been following his backstory, you know the brown sticky stuff he's been through in life and how Jones stands against all of Cormier's principles. For Cormier, this was more than just another fight - it was THE fight. Cormier, had he beat Jones, would have gone down as the greatest LHWs of all time. He would have finally made Jones pay for all of the comments, public antics, and heated exchanges, but this is not a perfect world. It was absolute gut wrenching to see him cry in the octagon. The fight could not have ended in a worse way for him. On the other hand, it was absolutely triumphant for Jon Jones. I got an absolute rush in my body when he landed the headkick. I was standing up out of my seat and screaming as he finished DC. Seeing Jon with the belt in his hands again looked identical to when he first won it vs Shogun 7 years ago. Seeing him vs OSP had me worried for this fight, but he absolutely delivered a genius performance. This is the old Jon Jones...except better. He is now older, and hopefully, more mature. I'm excited to see him go through his prime. I don't expect that any of the current LHWs will defeat him. All in all, it was a close fight until the headkick. I think Jones took the first round, then DC took the second. The third round looked good for DC, but he started getting cocky. DC was taunting Jones and getting emotional, which I feel ultimately led to carelessness and gave Jones the opening for the headkick. Jones stayed calm, cool, and patient. Utilizing his reach and famous oblique kicks, he wore down DC. To see him finish a guy who's never been finished before was amazing. I was gonna type up more and go more into detail, but I'm tired and have sickbrain (so don't brown sticky stuff on me for grammar mistakes). Amazing card minus the Woodley fight, as usual. Probably one of my top 5 cards ever.
