  2. Congratulations to FINAL OWNAGE ELITE for winning the sharkbrew big mini tournament! They went through the entire tournament completely unbeaten. They won the final round vs APEX 2-1 to take the winning spot and claim the bragging rights. This is the final standings for the tournament. Credit to DOJO for jumping in last minute and getting in as many fights as they did. If you didn't get your fights in on time, you have all been given a 1-1 draw. Thanks to all clans that participated in the tournament, was fun to moderate make sure you sign up for the next tournament that will be happening soon! FOE your signature is now currently being please wait a few days for it to be produced it has been ordered already
  3. We have recently begun adding new staff members to the team that will be helping us focus further on Community Development and Community Event Planning. Both have expressed a desire to get further involved, so please give them a warm welcome! @cxntrxl, Representing Irrelevant Outcasts. @oliver, Representing APEX. We are still looking for several other individuals, so if you're interested, we highly encourage you to fill out an application! Thank you.
  4. Background: Majority us getting older with IRL commitments- the good old days of spending 4-6 hours a day recruiting instead of playing the game is a chore that many of us don't wish to be burdened with. This problem is further aggravated by recent decisions by Jagex to implement updates that hurt the clanning communities even further, i.e. destruction of the xlpc scene, removal of BH, removal of DMM, and so on. Sharkbrew would like to try and help making recruitment easier, and possibly bring fresh (and talented) blood to both the PvP and Clanning community PvP ELO league Ideation Topic The objective of this writeup is to demonstrate our intent with the ELO League. We want community's feedback and suggestions before we implement this however. https://www.reddit.com/r/2007scape/comments/93ad98/colosseum_elo_pvp_arena/ Many of the ideas has been taken from the various PvP colosseum league suggested to Jagex over many year, so credits to the ^^ authors Our goal is to build an ELO table that tracks and ranks the skills of PvPers at various categories, for example: Starting off, we will be catering to the pure tribrids/NHers first before expanding to the main scene. How does do you compete in the league? League rankings are tied to the player's sharkbrew account, so players are free to use any number of runescape accounts to participate. Said accounts would have to be approved before they can be used to compete however. Player challenge each other either on forums or ingame(with picture proof) with agreed gear set(to be proposed) Fights are best of 3 and can be conducted in duel arena, wilderness or PvP worlds Winners simply upload the screenshot or video evidence* of the fight to the PvP portal If there are no disputes, the fight is automatically logged to the system after 48 hours * While video evidence is not mandatory, it would help in the case of disputes What are the League categories? Pure Tribrid We are going to start with 1 category for now, but we would like the community's suggestion on future categories Are there any brackets? We would need suggestions on how to implement a tier/bracket system so that this League isn't just a race to the top. I would prefer if there was a way to discriminate between skill levels of participants to make this system more inclusive What are the rewards? Rewards hasn't been fully decided yet, but off the top of my head, if we are looking at 3 brackets, the top pvp from the Elite, Intermediate, Beginner can be sponsored to a tune of 70-100m every 2 weeks I believe that everyone of you on this forum have a stake in this project, and if we can execute this to its fullest potential, it can greatly benefit all our communities. Sharkbrew need your suggestions, please take the time to carefully think about what you want to see in this project.

  6. Promotions @FLOWER- Being one of the newer gatekeepers to the rank team, he has taken to the ground running by volunteering to maintain the ELO league & running events. Even inspite of his IRL work, he has always put time for the community and I am impressed with the work he has done. @Purefect- Despite the heavy demands placed on him by his IRL work, Adrolt has always had the heart for the scene and he has been putting in constant work to help the community. His notable achievements include the NTPC, NA vs EU events & the ELO league system. Unfortunately he will be temporarily retiring in Feb, so let us celebrate his presence with this promotion Community Support I would say majority of Sharkbrew ranks are either retired from the game, or aren't taking an active role in their clans. While this mitigates the bias of a community site being run by players from a select clan, this has also affected our ability to be up to date of the happenings in game. Therefore we are launching the community support rank to interested players who may not want the full responsibilities of a Sharkbrew rank, but simply wants to help the community. Congratulations to @Lord Ex If you want to become part of community support, drop me a DM on Discord with your proposal, and we can discuss further
  7. The current clan/team roles on discord are sorted by the number of points you achieve on the ELO table, with the inclusion of officially recognizing mini teams and giving them their own ELO table, it does not make sense to allow unofficial teams to continue to have their discord roles while other official teams are having events and putting time and effort contributing to the community. Therefore, the countdown has started, any unofficial team/clan who has not registered to the ELO system and conducted 1 event will have their roles deleted from Sharkbrew discord by the 15th of Jan 2020. You may find out how to enter the ELO system by clicking on the following links:
  8. Break was involved in an argument in discord that devolved into a cesspool of IRL insults. This behavior is not condone by our staff behavior guidelines and as an overseer of the site, he should known better. As a result this behavior he has been temporarily demoted for 1 week. As moderators with access to tools to ban/mute/kick troublemakers of the community, Sharkbrew Ranks are required to hold themselves to higher accountability with regards to their behavior and should not stray the line that constitutes any method or mannerisms that may compel them to use their powers on users as a result of their own behavior. This doesn't mean our ranks shouldn't be able to have fun though- we allow our ranks to involve themselves in flamewars- as long as they don't use their powers or compel/bait members into breaking forum or discord rules.
  9. https://www.sharkbrew.com/?/league/teams The league system is finally up with the following scoring rules: Rules For every round won, the mini team shall receive weighted 0.4 points. Losing clans will lose an equivalent 0.2 points * total number of rounds loss per fight. This means that a team will lose less points for a 2-1 than a 3-0 Encouraging new teams to open We will not display the losses of teams. This is to encourage the opening of new teams and giving them the opportunity to fight other teams without the obvious stigma associated with a loss Encouraging more CWA activity for clans We will not award any points for the winners or losers if a team is fighting a clan. We hope this will encourage teams to mini or big mini clans If you like to open a new team to participate in this league, check out the team section here: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/forum/443-teams/
  10. Attention all pure community gamers since the SHARKBREW elo league has been in place one clan has gone above and beyond to be the most active clan in wilderness. They currently hold the top spot right now and have had it for the entire month of NOVEMBER. They are also the first clan to reach the platinum rank on the elo league, which is a massive milestone and a good achievement. CONGRATULATIONS RAGE As the year comes to an end this is the current standings for active pure clans in the wilderness, remember to keep posting your topics as much as you can.
  11. Mini Teams While this is not the first time Sharkbrew has tracked mini teams, this time around I was approached by Moni and H_88 a while back indicating their intentions of bringing the mini team scene back to life and how they want to interweave both the clan and mini scene to form a symbiotic relationship. Mini Teams ELO League From 1st Dec, Sharkbrew is tracking all minis by mini teams. We hope with this system, we can encourage more pures to gather a few of their friends to participate in this competitive league. To deter obsession of losses, we will not be advertising the team's loss, only the number of wins as shown below: As minis events tend to outweight that of pure clans, I have fast tracked the promotion of H_88 and he will be handling the mini teams ELO league. In the coming days I will announce the monthly prize money for the top mini team in the league

  14. WCOTM/COTM Wilderness clan of the month & Clan of the month is finally back! Our primary mission with relaunching these 2 systems is to reward clans for participating within the community, and hopefully we can also give your members something to look forward to at the end of the month. The topics and the content you post will eventually be used by our marketing team to advertise the activeness of our community to other social media websites like reddit and twitter- our ultimate goal is to create a positive feedback loop where the activity generated by our clans will result in more users willing to trial out clanning, which in turn generates more activity within the scene thanks to the larger player base. The prize money has been sponsored by our community sponsors, I hope you all will take this opportunity to check them out on the right of the forum index page. How do WCOTM/COTM work? For each event topic you post, your clan group receives a number of points, at the end of the month, our system will calculate who has the highest number of points earned in that month and announce you the winner! Starting time: 1st day of the month, 00:00 EST Ending time: last day of the month, 23:59 EST All topics must be posted within that time period or they will not be counted How do I participate? First ensure you have a clan group here: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/gc/ Next check that your clan group is listed in the ELO league: https://www.sharkbrew.com/?/league/clans Finally post your event topics in either the wilderness of clan wars section. WCOTM - All midweeks and weekend events count COTM - Only preps, FTXX, Fullouts count What is the criteria for winning? WCOTM Earn the most number of points within the month to win. If there is a tie, we shall organize a clan wars event that partly mimics the conditions of a wilderness fight COTM The top 2 or more(if there is a tie) highest scoring clans(regardless of points difference) shall engage in run off round robin standard 1 def pure prep. The fight type would be decided by the clan with higher points What are the rewards? The winning clan shall receive: WCOTM A signature depicting their win Medal awarded to all members in their clan group 30m RSGP COTM A signature depicting their win Medal awarded to all members in their clan group 40m RSGP- COTM gets more due to the mandatory run off prep What are the rules? We reserve the right to disqualify clans who attempt to game or cheat the system, this includes(and are not limited to): Reusing old fight pictures Farming clans for wins Due to the relative poor health of the scene, we hope that everyone respects each other and plays fair, but if needed, we may take necessary action based on the advice of other clan leaders.
  15. Community Sponsorship Sharkbrew originally dropped our sponsors at the behest of the JMods we were trying to work with to get us the necessary fixes to existing game content that were killing the clanning scene, and new updates that could help us. Unfortunately, Jagex basically showed us the middle finger and implemented a bunch of updates that didn't fix the core problem of PvP and PvP Clanning. While we had to operate with hands tied behind our backs, reddit and youtube were abound with ads from pservers, and gold farming sites. .... ... no reply after that Monthly ladder prizes -Many thanks to @Juicyfor securing the sponsor- I would like to thank our first sponsor whose ads you shall see on discord and forums soon. Come 1st of December, we shall launch COTM/WCOTM for pure clans, a league system for mini war clans and NH pkers. Unfortunately for the main and zerk teams, the staff team still needs to consolidate a strategy for the scene, so we are skipping that for December. Tentative prize money(set to change) would vary from 30-60m a month for each winner.
  16. Regarding recent events and discussions related to the conduct of one of our staff members, we have agreed that a temporary demotion for @DilLis the appropriate action to take in addition to educating him on what is and isn't considered appropriate conduct for staff members to engage in. While it is apparent that there has been a significant amount of concern trolling and exaggerated outrage regarding the situation, it is our opinion that Dill did cross a line with his conduct. While we do allow staff members that participate in community/clan activities to engage with community banter, we cannot allow the use of disparaging, obscene or hateful language in any fashion. We will be using his brief period of suspension to re-align him with our goals for this team, and the wider community. Please note that any attempts to bait Dill for his recent suspension will result in action being taken against the offender(s). This only serves to create further negative discourse and will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Thank you.
  17. Good exposure for your clan Hit him up! Hes also idling in SB discord - Abyss#9080
  18. The number of preps/fullouts has been on a steady decline and opts of said events has been going down too. Sharkbrew would like to encourage more clan war events and one of the ways we feel we can help is to recognize 2v2+ preps where multiple clans team together for an event. Coop preps Considering the fairly successful 3v3 event that was hosted by @Jamz, we would like to take the opportunity to recognize and reward clans who are willing to work with each other to organize more events in clan wars. Thus, I have added a new fight category to the ELO system From today onwards, all official 2v2+ preps will be recorded into the system. Each clan must have a reasonable number of members in the fight for it to count. Scoring 0.4 points per round won is awarded to the winning clan's topic Losing clans will not lose any points or have any losses added to their clan wars record In order for your clan points to be awarded, you must post your own topic. We believe that cooperative preps can help nurture alliances, spreads the risk of a loss, and exposes clan members to higher opt fights that are rarer these days. Bear in mind that while benefits are plentiful, leaders of new clans should be mindful of other clans who may use these events as opportunities to poach members or recruit turncoats ELO points decay We will be introducing the elo points decay for the wilderness activity section of the ELO league. If your clan hasn't done 4 midweeks and 2 weekend trips, you will receive a point decay on the following Monday. I will make announcement with finer details in the coming days with regards to this system
  19. To make this short, one of our Admins was approached by one of Clan-Warfares admins and was asked how to basically see IP's etc. We HIGHLY suggest you use a VPN/Fake E-Mail when using their website. Stay safe friends!
  20. Promotions Unfortunately work on the wiki has slowed down and we honestly need all the hands we can get at this time. Our immediate objective is to create a central portal of up to date guides for anyone new to pvping and clanning, thus I have arranged the rank structure and promoted 2 capable people to execute this change @Eeveeto Counselor - She has done excellent work with the community moderation team, created the current set of rules, and has helped detoxify the forum community- thus I am confident in her abilities to lead and manage. I pleased to announce that she accepted my request to lead the wiki team and I honestly can't wait to see what she has planned in store for the wiki team. @I Rep Dutchto Gatekeeper - When we announced the wiki update some time back, he was one of the first individuals to sign up to the wiki moderation team, since then he has been contributing articles without our supervision, however in recent weeks, he has indicated he wanted to contribute more, so lets welcome him! --- There are still outstanding promotion application topics which I have not gone through yet, we are still looking for people and I plan to do an additional general promotion in coming weeks Wiki Any updates to the wiki will now be published to the campfire channel of discord. This is to advertise said changes to the page and encourage community engagement In the coming days I will be doing a rewards system where you get sharkpoints for editing wiki pages Clan leaders Jagex will be opening up a registration form where they would fly you to cambridge to share your ideas on how to improve clanning, keep an eye out for the announcement newspost on the OSRS site and I hope all of you register to share our many ideas to them! https://jagex.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_77HF8PVueAjybLD
  21. Promotions I would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply for sharkbrew rank. Unfortunately for some of you, there are outstanding matters that have to be resolved before we promote you. For other applicants, congratulations and I am glad to have you onboard sharkbrew and I hope we can achieve the revitalization of the PvP and Clanning community together! @Brock @Jamz @Haro @FLOWER We are still looking for applications. If you like to apply, please do so by clicking the application form at the top of the site
  22. This announcement topic is to describe Sharkbrew's future goal for the community, why we need to achieve those goals, and how we are going to achieve them PvP & Clanning Updates Around June 2018, we were approached by Mod Sween from Jagex who wanted feedback on weapon mechanics updates that may affect PvP community. At that time, we did not have the community(esp. the main community) well integrated enough to help provide the necessary and feedback value that he was looking for. As a result, communications slowly died off and he eventually departed the site. As much as the JMods are game moderators and are community oriented, they are still answerable to a managerial chain of command whose primary aim is: How do we make more money? If I dedicate X number of Jmod hours on this update(business cost), will I get back Y amount of players(revenue). This could be one of the reasons why highly upvoted reddit posts often are addressed directly and even implemented in game by Jagex because they see the value in such posts. Thus, in order for PvP/clanning related update suggestion to achieve this same level of attention by Jagex, we have to emulate this value for them. Why should we going to provide this value? For years now, Jagex has either ignored or resisted our concerns and our appeals to introducing updates that would greatly benefit our community. Furthermore, as of late, they have implemented updates that have wiped out entire segments of our community. Unfortunately, due to the perceived small size of our community and our distinct dividedness, Jagex will continue to see us as the tiny minority of the community that they can continue to ignore without any risk or harm to their reputation. How are we going to provide this value? In order to provide this value, we need to centralize the entire community under one platform, this is so that ideas can be vetted within our scene, and thus we can provide the value, which reddit does already, of like-minded individuals who are ultra focused on this area of the game. Primary Goals - Activity and Ideas Create a portal that aggregates the activity of clanning and PvP Create a system that encourages the community to share ideas Generate community momentum behind said ideas With the above systems in place, we shall go on the offense and start pushing our ideas and agenda to Jagex and to the rest of the community Concurrent Goals - Addressing Fundamental challenges of Clanning Lowering the barrier of entry for recruitment Fully connect Sharkbrew with our other social media platforms Community Events Toxicity on Sharkbrew platforms Address or defend the image of clanning that has been heavily slated by bias 3rd party official fansites, i.e. Reddit Encourage members of the community to start new clans Activity and Ideas We have recently launched the League system that tracks CWA and wilderness activity of clans. The goal of this system is to encourage healthy competition between clans while also primarily serving as a recruitment and motivational tool for clans. As the Sharkbrew brand name is fairly well established, we want new visitors to the site to be impressed by the sheer activity that clanning provides. We hope that with majority of the clans joining our league system, we can then use this to attract like-minded members to start contributing PvP and clanning related ideas to help boost the interaction in the community- similar to the modus operandi of the working community at Reddit. Once we get the momentum going, it is going to be extremely difficult to stop. Secondly, we are going to expand the League system to include tracking individual Pking. This additional will complete the recruit cycle on sharkbrew- something which I will elaborate on later. Now with the community being behind said ideas that were generated before, our goal is to push these ideas on various forums to Jagex. Unlike the previous time where it was only 75~ votes and comments, we hope to aggregate the opinions of a few hundred active clanners, thus showing to Jagex that we mean quite a fair bit of business. Addressing Fundamental challenges of Clanning As we are facing an older user base with less time to commit to the rigors of clanning, Sharkbrew's goal is to reduce some of the monotonous tasks of running a clan, thus hopefully we can free up time for what leaders and members enjoy most about clanning- participating in events and fighting other clans Lowering the barrier of entry for recruitment All clans today actively recruit in game, and this is their primary source of active members. I have idled in 4 social CCs while training my med account, and I have come across quite a fair number of pures and PKers who generally dominate said discussions in those CCs. The market is there, but clans have to set aside time and effort to recruit such members. Passive recruitment The origins of a pure community/community forums(zybez) stems from the root idea that by posting your clan's aftermath topic, visitors to the site would be inclined to register on your clan forums to join your clan. This form of recruitment requires the least effort on behalf of the clan. Our goal is to improve the passive recruitment for all clans using sharkbrew, and we shall achieve this with the following: Merging Sharkbrew twitter Sharkbrew's twitter account currently runs a daily top BH hunter highscore list. Our audience base consist mostly of BH and 1v1 pkers. While our follower count is not amazing, our twitter posts reaches out to around 800-1k users daily. Our goal is to eventually post clan aftermath topics on our twitter and synchronize our twitter audience with Sharkbrew forums, thus exposing clans to a whole new audience base 1v1 ELO league system By expanding the league system to include 1v1 PKers, we hope to complete the recruitment cycle where players who are competitive in 1v1 uses our league system, is then exposed to clanning, and hopefully these players will eventually join one of the clans using Sharkbrew. @Moniwill be leading the above system Wiki System Our plan is to build a PvP and clanning oriented wiki system that contain guides for for clanning and PvPers. Written by people who know the scene best . With a bit of SEO management, we hope that our guides would be the first link people click when searching for "1 defense pure guide"/"how to make a zerk" on google, and ultimately be exposed to clanning when visiting our site @Eeveeis leading the above system Toxicity on Sharkbrew platforms We are aware of the toxicity that stems from our platforms, and in 2016 Sharkbrew can probably hold the record for being the most toxic community, unless you were also drinking tap water in flint michigan. Our goal is to significantly clamp down on the toxicity that stems from our platforms, both on forums and in discord. We understand that we cannot grow if we were to remain in a state of toxicity as new members would be put off from joining the clanning community. As such, the rules have been completely revamped and we are going to push for a competitive community that is also clean in the process @Eeveeis leading the the moderation team @Breakand @Yakis leading the mod team for discord Community Events In the coming months, you will see more community events being hosted by Sharkbrew. This is to publicize the strengths and activity of our scene when we eventually connect with our other social media platforms @Kyewill be leading this system Fully connect Sharkbrew with our other social media platforms As mentioned earlier, we will be synchronizing the forums with our twitter platform. Once we have enough users, we will be reaching out to reddit as well. The aim is once again to blast out the sheer activity of clanning. People are looking for clans on 2007scape reddit, however majority of the content is dominated by "Lets shit on clanning/pvp" memes that such posts don't get the attention they deserve. Address or defend the image of clanning that has been heavily slated by bias 3rd party official fansites, i.e. Reddit This is connected to the previous point where in addition to advertising the activity of clanning, we are also going to create a campaign to help mitigate some of the poor image clanning has suffered, i.e. under DMM/Mod Jed for example. Encourage members of the community to start new clans With the above objectives achieved, we hope more community members would be motivated to start a clan and join into the fight fest! Looking for New Ranks! In summary, to achieve all of our above goals, Sharkbrew is looking for new ranks. If you are motivated enough to help us and by extension help the community, please make an application topic here: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/application/form/3-apply-to-become-a-sharkbrew-rank/ In the application topic, we would like for you to state which system you like to work on/improve We also welcome any new ideas as we are flexible enough to incorporate new ones- as long as our goals are achieved!
  23. Introduction COTM/CWL/WCOTM used to be a household name for clans looking to compare their performance and activity in Clan Wars and Wilderness. You can find the origins with (former) sharkbrew rank @Bradenwho came up with the idea of tracking clan wars preps during an era where prep activity had all but collapsed. Thanks to his system, there was a noticeable increase in clan wars activity. Over the years, we have seen many changes, but the hardest hit so far was the migration of Sharkbrew from IPB3 to IPB4 in 2018. This had rendered all of our systems obsolete, and combined with my increased irl workload, I was not able to code up a replacement... until today: League System I have limited the number of dependencies with IPB, therefore we can foresee this system being used for many years to come! https://www.sharkbrew.com/?/league/clans/cwars https://www.sharkbrew.com/?/league/clans/wilderness This is a unified system that tracks both clan wars and wilderness. The system is based on weighted point values as shown here: Clan Wars This system tracks all preps(20v20+) and fullouts. Unlike previous systems, we award points based on rounds won. The formula goes as follows: For winners: points gained: numbers_of_rounds_won * 1.00(winner points) * 3 For the losers points lost: (total_number_of_rounds - number_of_rounds_won) * -0.75 * 3 To mitigate the effects of a loss, the losing clan will not lose as much points as gained by the winning clan. Also because we are counting rounds won, winning at least 1 round in a 3 round prep can prevent you from losing a lot of points! Also all preps are capped at 5 rounds to deter point farming. First to 25/50/100 counts as 1 round. Wilderness The goal of tracking wilderness activity ties into Sharkbrew future plans of advertising pure/main community events to the greater public with the help of sharkbrew's twitter account. This system is designed to demonstrate which clans have the most activity. I will post a topic in the future detailing our plans. There are no winners or losers; every topic(midweek/weekend counts). The higher the opts, the more points your clan will receive! Midweek: opts/10 * 0.2 * 3 Weekend: opts/10 * 1.50 * 3 When will the system start? I will be counting all events starting from the 18th of august onwards. How do I participate? For now, create a clan group: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/gc/cat/1-runescape-clans/ Then PM me on discord to be added to the system. I am working out kinks to the system. Promotions With these new systems up come with new promotions: @Break- Overseer- As one of our senior ranks I am thankful for your loyalty to this site. You been with Sharkbrew and by my side through Sharkbrew's ups and falls, and I thoroughly appreciate your presence on this site. You have put in a great amount of work into countless various systems that the sharkbrew community, and this new rank is the cumulative of everything your had done. @Yak- Mediator - Inspite of your many IRL commitments, you have dedicated yourself to the management and upkeep of the discord. Your activity has been excellent and I would like to see you achieve more with this rank With this out of the way, Sharkbrew is looking for new ranks to help us propel this community into the next phase. Within the next 2 weeks, we are going to promote no less than 6 new gatekeepers to help us run various systems. If you have already applied, please take note of your rank application topic link as I will need you to reply to a future topic indicating your continued interest at being a rank of this site. If you haven't applied, please feel free to apply by clicking the link at the top of this site
  24. Community Advisor Rank As I am nearly complete with the homepage, I will be reintroducing the tracking of clan wars and wilderness events on the home page: The main goal is to showcase your clan, with secondary objectives of demonstrating the activity of the pure/main clanning scene to the rest of the community. I will elaborate on our strategy in the near future, but without getting sidetracked too much, We would like to introduce a new rank initiative. @Community Advisor We always try to maintain a fair balance of ranks from different clans in the Sharkbrew rank team. This unfortunately has the side effect of not being able to hear suggestions or perspective from talented community members. Furthermore, as our rank team members are getting older, majority of us have moved on from this game or are not as active as we used to be. This is a detriment as we are not in tune with the issues plaguing the scene. Thus I am introducing this new rank to help us better connect with the community to learn pressing issues that need addressing. You can find more details here: Anyone can apply, and as long as they meet and maintain the requirements, they would be ranked up.
