Is the death penalty moral?

Yes. Why spend millions on keeping someone incarcerated when they don't deserve to live in the first place?

just to play devil's advocate, it's more expensive to go through the process of executing them rather than keeping them locked away for life

I wanted this debate to focus on morality, not convenience. What I wanted to be discussed is whether it is morally justified to take a person's life if their crime is serious enough, for example a school shooter or bomber.

It's actually true lmao

The cost of maintaining an inmate on death row is significantly higher than one in general population. But once the end of the line comes, the cost of the actual lethal injection is minuscule compared to the cost of holding an inmate for 30+ years.
