You will need:

  • Working internet connection at home
  • Abilty to connect to the internet from your phone using wifi
  • A relatively new smartphone
  • Access to google play/app store

Why should I use my smartphone as a microphone instead of buying a dedicated mic?

More often than not, your $199 smartphone has better voice quality than any $20 headset mic you can buy from the market out there.

Android(personally tested and is my favorite):

  1. Install WO Mic Pro or WO Mic from Googple Play market.
  2. Download the program http://www.wirelessorange.com/womic/install.html for your PC

Running the program

on Android phone:

  1. Launch WO Mic app
  2. Go to Settings menu and choose Wifi as the transport
  3. Turn on Wifi and connect it to one hotspot. Acquired IP address will be displayed on app panel
  4. Click Start to start the service

on PC:

  1. Launch WO Mic Client program
  2. Turn on Wifi if it's OFF
  3. Select Connection -> Connect. Choose Wifi as transport and enter the IP address displayed on phone app panel as target device. Once you are done, click Ok.

Unfortunately I don't have Air Mic installed, but the procedure should be about the same
