Why do more clans not open?

November 2016 to March 2017 was probably one of the best eras of pure clanning. About 8 clans were around (excluding hpc: eop, foe, etc) there was no rag, no mains. Only pure on pure action every single day of the week and Friday officials were fun as fuck. As soon as the hpcs came down from their 30 def scene, they brought the cancer a long with them.

All that to say only over 15 months ago the pure community was at its healthiest and I remember in 2014 when I was leading Ctrl, pure clanning was shit with only 4 clans around. It's a cycle man, this is not the end, there will be communities that will open and once cancer clans closes other new smaller clans will open without having those bad habits of bringing mains/rags.

Tl;dr it's a cycle. Sometimes the scene will die and other times the scene will thrive... been like that for the past 10 years

When most of he legacy clans opened their ranks and members were young and had time. The RuneScape community isn’t bringing in enough younger players anymore and even if they did a 15 year old leader wouldn’t compete in this scene these days

Because people don't try or care enough to build a successful clan. The clans you see in xlpc aren't interested in becoming full time clans and are just there to domimate a weaker scene to enjoy success they can't obtain in lpc, hence why they never last long.

When was the last time a clan opened up that wasn't just a shitty remake or had recycled members that was successful? Rage? Unless a legacy clan or a known clan (ala IR) reopen the status quo will remain the same boring way.

Yup pretty much this. It comes and goes in waves. Clanning will never die. The game itself isn't dying either lol I fucking hate when people say that. More people play osrs now than they did in 2014.

The problem is clans recycle the same useless ranks which aren't interested in bringing fresh blood into the scene, said ranks are experts in failures and their clans ultimately close in a matter of months

important point

also a good point is that it's a shame how ranks of clans that have been around for years, put down "edgeville" and "sandcrab" recruits rather than trying to teaching them to adapt to the clanning community. theyd rather mock newbies than to welcome them lol

People don't want to lead clans anymore / enjoy the game enough to actually lead in 2018.

Clans like:

Oldschool clans are easier to stay open because they've been around for so long and don't need to spend their time recruiting to stay relevant
