Feedback on XLPC WCOTM & COTM

While the system was a success in regards to activity and motive for the XLPCs, we found a few flaws in our system. The XLPC WCOTM team came up with a few items to review and things we can discuss in order to improve the system for March and on going.
After all, this is your scene and we'd like nothing more than inclusivity.

WCOTM

Working on Dispute Penalties

Are the current penalties up to par with the scene?

Should ragging (1-Item Raggers, Lvl 70+ Raggers, etc) be placed in the dispute system?

  • Right now we only cater to main disputes. What if we took the time to eye out for other ways of rag?

What else should be added?

Fighting in PVP Worlds (Avoiding 1-item raggers and Lvl 70+ accounts)

Should we reward XLPCs who fight OUTSIDE of Falador or Varrock Sewers? (This is to avoid 1-Item Raggers ragging or mains ragging your fights in general)

  • Maybe deducting a small amount, like .10 - .20, to fights that occur in areas easily accessible to rags

Possible Point Restructure

While this will definitely require much more work from the WCOTM/COTM Team, should we add in a point system restructure for topics that include blatantly 2v1ing?

  • Will be based off POV's
  • Will likely account in a lot of factors in terms unfair pull advantage on one side compared to the other
  • Team-on-crash system requiring logs

Should there be an opt minimum for midweeks or weekends?

  • If yes, then what should the opt minimum be?
    • 10 for midweeks? 25 for weekends? Give me your thoughts

COTM

Opt Minimum

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a scheduled prep?

  • 30v30 minimum changed to 25v25 minimum

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a BO3?

  • 20v20 minimum changed to 10v10 or 15v15
    • Maybe even include both 10v10 and 15v15 and just change the point amount for both

Non-Established Clans in Clan Wars

Should we not count points for clans that do CWA with non-established clans? (mini teams/snipe teams/prep teams)

  • Applies to BO3'S and Scheduled PREPs

Requiring a Memberlist

Should the ending COTM prep require clans to send in a full roster?

  • Would not apply to anything else but the COTM Tiebreaker

2V2's/RvB's/Fun CWA Events

Should there be points awarded for clans that participate in Sharkbrew-wide events?

Please give me your thoughts! Any feedback is good feedback, even if it's negative.

If there's ANYTHING else I've missed, please do say.

Should ragging (1-Item Raggers, Lvl 70+ Raggers, etc) be placed in the dispute system?

Yes.

Should we reward XLPCs who fight OUTSIDE of Falador or Varrock Sewers? (This is to avoid 1-Item Raggers ragging or mains ragging your fights in general)

Yes, fighting in varrock, fally, sewers or wherever it may be, action is still action and it adds more variety to the battlefield.

While this will definitely require much more work from the WCOTM/COTM Team, should we add in a point system restructure for topics that include blatantly 2v1ing?

No, don't make the points deduction based on teams 1v2ing or team on crash... It's the wildy, if a clan has the highest pull they should know to be targeted most. Don't make wildy rules pussy rules please.

Should there be an opt minimum for midweeks or weekends?

Yes, 10 for midweek / 25 for weekends.

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a scheduled prep?

Yes, 25v25 minimum is good.

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a BO3?

Yes, make it 10v10 minimum, expect more minis when teams can pull lower #'s for sb/clan activity.

Should the ending COTM prep require clans to send in a full roster?

I don't see this helping anything unless a clan struggles to pull that prep's min. opts for that one day. Plus, it's xlpc just be expecting invites to come if one side can't pull lol. Vote no.

Should there be points awarded for clans that participate in Sharkbrew-wide events?

Yes, and if this passes, expect Divine to be setting up more fun style xlpc events for the community.

Should ragging (1-Item Raggers, Lvl 70+ Raggers, etc) be placed in the dispute system?

Yes. Would be difficult and time-consuming to track and judge.

Should we reward XLPCs who fight OUTSIDE of Falador or Varrock Sewers? (This is to avoid 1-Item Raggers ragging or mains ragging your fights in general)

No.

While this will definitely require much more work from the WCOTM/COTM Team, should we add in a point system restructure for topics that include blatantly 2v1ing?

No. Part of the strategic element in clanning is knowing how to make smart alliances.

Should there be an opt minimum for midweeks or weekends?

Yes, 10 midweek, 20 weekend

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a scheduled prep?

No, 30v30 minimum is a prep

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a BO3?

Yes, 10v10 minimum. Anything lower is 95% of the time based off RNG and not individual skill.

Should the ending COTM prep require clans to send in a full roster?

No, would defeat the purpose of mass name changes (which all clans have) if the list gets leaked to a third party.

Should there be points awarded for clans that participate in Sharkbrew-wide events?

Yes

WCOTM is a dumb idea and should be scrapped all together.

COTM should work exactly as when i last played -2015 or so. Clan with the most prep wins gets the trophy (that point system u had then was good)

that table thing u used to have that recorded all the prep wins etc was nice too - bring that back? adds more competetive nature into it.

20v20 minimum, make it more open to lower pulling clans.

Are the current penalties up to par with the scene?

Not sure anyone currently cares about the penalties

Should ragging (1-Item Raggers, Lvl 70+ Raggers, etc) be placed in the dispute system?

Yes, 65 cb is the current cap for xlpc. Clans shouldn't be bringing 70+ accounts

Right now we only cater to main disputes. What if we took the time to eye out for other ways of rag?

Yes that would be helpful, although might require more than work than it's worth

What else should be added?

Encourage clans to not hide in different worlds or sit and fight in singles

Should we reward XLPCs who fight OUTSIDE of Falador or Varrock Sewers? (This is to avoid 1-Item Raggers ragging or mains ragging your fights in general)

Maybe deducting a small amount, like .10 - .20, to fights that occur in areas easily accessible to rags

No, action is action regardless. People will always bring raggers no matter where we fight but sewers and falador are quick returns and good clusters when they occur. Punish where appropriate but don't incentivize against fighting in different places it helps grow the scene when people in pvp world see us all fighting.

While this will definitely require much more work from the WCOTM/COTM Team, should we add in a point system restructure for topics that include blatantly 2v1ing?

Will be based off POV's

Will likely account in a lot of factors in terms unfair pull advantage on one side compared to the other

Team-on-crash system requiring logs

No, this is hugely dependent on too many factors and sounds like a huge waste of time

What counts as unfair pull? How would you stop people hiding ops logged out or no capes so they can claim 2v1? Would this just be for clans or snipe teams as well? What happens if snipe teams crash and focus 1 team? What happens if a team has bad movements and gets stuck in the middle of a cluster? What pull does a snipe team need to be considered 2v1ing?

Wildy is wildy if clans pipe up and get focused it's on them

Should there be an opt minimum for midweeks or weekends?

If yes, then what should the opt minimum be?

10 for midweeks? 25 for weekends? Give me your thoughts

Yes, 10 for midweek is basically lower pulling than a snipe team, i think 15 to count for points. min ops for weekends should be same as min for a prep imo so 30

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a scheduled prep?

30v30 minimum changed to 25v25 minimum

Should we reduce the amount of opts required for a BO3?

20v20 minimum changed to 10v10 or 15v15

No, keep amount of ops the same, most clans should be able to pull 30 for a scheduled prep

No, lower op fights are more rng based, 10v10 isn't even worth doing most the time

Should we not count points for clans that do CWA with non-established clans? (mini teams/snipe teams/prep teams)

Applies to BO3'S and Scheduled PREPs

No, still count them should encourage more action

Should the ending COTM prep require clans to send in a full roster?

Would not apply to anything else but the COTM Tiebreaker

Yes, full roster no invites

Should there be points awarded for clans that participate in Sharkbrew-wide events?

Yes, more events please as well

Extra points

Maybe a midweek day to go out like the weekends. EU timezone is kinda dead midweek so maybe encourage EU and US trips somehow, maybe less ops required for eu midweek trips to count for points. Clan war day midweek for minis. Encourage more preps between all the clans. More 2v2s, rvbs, fun events. Overhead on minis/preps would be fun occasionally

Why is it a dumb idea? You've been around since this system was based on pulls. People believe, the system could be better but it has the 'right' idea to encourage activity within the scene.

clans lie and misrepresent their pulls all the time

clans pull =/= quality/how well their clan did..

@slushpuppy pls bring the table back that was awesome

I think if a clan is leading COTM by a vast amount of points (seen below) and has more wins under their belt to the #2 clan on the list they should automatically win the award when the month ends...

If it was close between the #1 and #2 clans within the points then sure, give them multiple chances at the cotm prep but that's about it lmao.

We have to prep Immortal AGAIN to win #1?

Might be better off having some sort of round robin system/tournament every month where all clans prep each other, getting boring always winning against the same people

Well here's the flaw in that. Clans who EXTENSIVELY rival are so fucking stubborn that they refuse to risk taking an L. For example, it's incredibly difficult to have NRG and IMT prep bc cards are on the table, while Divine might have an easier time setting up preps with NRG bc there isn't anything really to lose on either end. It's a friendly loss. (Remember that this is an example)

Works the same way in LPC. Rivals won't prep bc they're stubborn. If you prep your friendly clans 4 times and not have a prep with any other clan while the rival does the same, does that mean you deserve COTM for beating the same clan 4 times? Having #1 and #2 prep for the title is the best way to have it. If you TRULY believe your clan is literally CLAN OF THE MONTH, then why is prepping for the top spot an issue?

Here's another example: if APOC and BT prep 4 times and let's say one of them wins 3 preps out of the 4 and end up with the highest amount of points, does that mean that they deserve the COTM spot? I honestly don't think so.

I do agree, however, that there should be a rule on COTM prep being based off a margin. I originally had it set to a margin in one of my rough drafts, but the team decided against it since the scene rarely preps (which is true). I'll have it talked over with the team again and see what we can do.

either do a bracket per week for the month with clans like how nfl playoffs are played can do best of 3 per round since not many clans, and advance, instead of worrying about clans farming points. Cause the system now is trash, how is it were 4 whole points ahead meaning we prepped almost twice as much then imt did and won, but still not get clan of the month. System is garbage and new system needs to be placed
