Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 Mod Surfaces Two Months Before Official Release

A Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 mod has already started making waves, despite the game's official launch still being more than two months away, scheduled for October 25. As the first Black Ops title since 2020, Black Ops 6 is highly anticipated, with numerous reveals yet to be announced.

One of the year's biggest leaks has seen almost everything about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6—from maps to weapons—unveiled ahead of time. Much of this information seems to be coming from a leaked beta build of the game, accessed by players on jailbroken PS4 consoles. Now, these players have reportedly acquired a Black Ops 6 mod that tweaks a new gameplay mechanic set to debut in the upcoming title.

According to a clip shared by ModernWarzone on Twitter, the mod alters the new omnidirectional movement feature, which allows players to sprint, slide, and dive in any direction. Modders have enhanced this mechanic by adding a "low gravity" effect to actions like jumping and diving. This tweak allows players to stay airborne longer during these moves, providing more time to shoot opponents while in midair. Interestingly, the video showcases these actions from a third-person perspective, hinting that this camera angle—previously seen only in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3's Zombies mode—may also have been modded into the game.

This mod has surfaced weeks before Call of Duty: Black Ops 6's early access period begins on August 30 for pre-order customers. The video suggests that the mod is being used in private lobbies by players with access to the leaked build on jailbroken consoles. In the comments, some users likened the midair shooting to the Bullet Time mechanic in the Max Payne series, while others expressed excitement, calling the mod "kinda amazing." One commenter pointed out that the mod was likely limited to private lobbies and would not be functional in public online matches when the game officially releases.

While these leaks undoubtedly spoil some of the surprises and undermine the developer's planned reveals, they only provide a glimpse of what's to come. Official sources are expected to reveal more about Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, particularly its Zombies mode, during the Call of Duty NEXT event on August 28.
