Prologue

Slightly over 1 year ago, the pure community site called CWF(sharkbrew) was brutally hacked by a certain disgruntled hacker. The hack resulted in the downtime and ultimate closure of the site. It wasn't the first time any site or clan forum closed because of forum hackings.

Since the inception of Pure community(2005), there has been 4 iterations of the pure community forums. They are:

  • Pure community(2005-2011?)

  • Pure warfare(2011-2013?)-closed because of EOC

  • Rs Warfare(2013-2013)

  • Clan warfare(2014-2014)

Before pure warfare/pure community, there hasn't been a community site that manage to last for more than a year.

Introduction

On 5th June 2014, a small team of runescape players decided to create a pure community site. Our initial mission statement was to build a pure community around honesty and to create a fertile environment in which clans can grow from this site. Immediately from the onset, we faced many challenges from opposing clan sites. We even nearly lost our entire rank team. However all these failures serve as a learning tool for us to face future challenges.

Rivalries

We are the only pure community site who had to starve off a multiple rival sites even while sharkbrew was established. Many of these sites had varying methodologies, but at the end, sharkbrew succeed. Thank you for your faith and support in Sharkbrew

Setting records

Pure warfare has always been the de facto face of the pure community until they closed. Even then, their branding stuck on for a while, and for whatever we planned to do, it had to be better than pure warfare. We had to revolutionize the pure community. I can confidently say that we have achieved most of the goals we set out to break e.g. passing sharkbrew's user count and we managed to achieve those goals with a smaller runescape playing community.

We can therefore claim a number of firsts:

  • Most users online 468

  • First community site with dedicated IP masking

  • First pure community site with working anti IP grabbing image filter

  • First pure community site with memberlist app

  • First pure community site to track prep wins/losses

  • First pure community site with a dedicated prep/FO declaration section

Future plans

Unlike previous pure community site iterations, we will not sit on our laurels. We have a plan for the future:

  • Finishing up the homepage to include clan tools and clan HQ

  • Superseding the CPL with the unified clan ranking system- based on heuristic and partisan free algorithms

  • Include a more diversified rank team

Stay tune for future updates.

Thanks a dedicated rank team, we have the technology and the knowledge to upkeep this site for the many years to come

Some of your info is off @@slushpuppy

Pc was around way up until like 2011

Pw started in 09

  • First pure community site to track prep wins/losses - Was done by both PC and PW
  • First pure community site with a dedicated prep/FO declaration section - Has also been done numerous times before
  • First pure community site with working anti IP grabbing image filter - Karl introduced a whitelist for image site's on pw back in like 2012, so has been done also

I don't really feel like the users thing is much of an accomplishment, given the fact some people have numerous different accounts, apart from that good job.

edit: pw might of been late 08 actually, i remember the 2nd version of the site came in around may 2009, but there was an earlier version of the same site, with no ipb license which sort of went sour, can't remember the exact reason.

edit 2: scratch that pw started in january 2009, It had a re-opening May 2009 which turned into one hell of an active site
