Log in News Home - News Home RuneFest 2018: OSRS Reveals October 06 2018 RuneFest 2018: OSRS Reveals Last year during the RuneFest 2017 Old School RuneScape reveals we released a blog further detailing the reveal of Dragon Slayer II. It was extremely well received, so we\'ve decided to do it again! In this blog you can find detail on all three of the content reveals; Kebos Lowlands, Warding and Song of the Elves. The focus of the blog will be on the Kebos Lowlands, with more information regarding Warding and Song of the Elves to follow in the coming weeks. Contents The Kebos Lowlands Warding Song of the Elves The Kebos Lowlands Since Xeric\'s Age of Strife, armies of his Lizardmen have attempted to reclaim Great Kourend in honour of their former ruler. These Lizardmen make their home in the Kebos Lowlands to the west of Kourend. The Lizardmen will defend their home ruthlessly and as such the Kebos Lowlands can be very dangerous to humans. However, those who are willing to enter will find a land of many opportunities. Click here to read more about the Kebos Lowlands and what they have to offer! Farming Guild The land deep within the Kebos Lowlands is home to soil more fertile than anywhere else on Gielinor. Land this fertile is highly appealing to members of Hosidius house, even with the threat of the Lizardmen. Following an agreement between Lord Hosidius and Lord Shayzien, a detachment of Shayzien soldiers has been assigned to protect the area. This has allowed Hosidius house to build and maintain a guild where farmers can experiment and master their craft. Click here to read more about the Farming Guild and what it has to offer! The Farming Guild is a new guild found in the Kebos Lowlands. The guild is separated into three large greenhouses, where each one acts as a different tier for the guild. The first tier requires 45 Farming to enter, the second requires 65 and the third requires 85. Entering the guild requires 60% Hosidius Favour. It is possible to use stat boosts to enter the guild areas. Farming Guild: Tiers Breakdown First tier - Requires 45 Farming Guildmaster: Provides background on the Guild. Bank: A bank with a poll booth and a deposit box. Equipment Shop: An Equipment Shop. This stocks the same supplies as Vannah\'s Farm Store with the exception that it also sells empty plant pots alongside the filled ones. Seed Shop: A Seed Shop. It offers the same stock as the Draynor Seed Market. Garden Supplier: A Garden Supplier. It offers the same stock as the Falador Garden Centre. A water source. Large Compost Bin: A large compost bin with double the capacity of a normal one (see \'New Patches\' further down for more details). Cactus Patch: This patch is identical to the Al Kharid patch. There is a farmer there who will look after the patch for you. Allotment, Herb & Flower Patch: The usual allotment setup with two allotment patches, a herb patch and flower patch. There is a farmer there who will look after the patches for you. Bush Patch: Identical to other bush patches. There is a farmer there who will look after the patch for you. Tool Leprechaun: The patches in the first tier share a single tool leprechaun. Second tier - Requires 65 Farming A water source. Tree Patch: Identical to other tree patches. There is a farmer there who will look after the patch for you. Hespori Patch: When this patch finishes growing, it can be fought as a basic demi-boss fight with various rewards (see \'New Patches\' further down for more details). Anima Patch: A new Patch with Worldwide Effects depending on what is grown (see \'New Patches\' further down for more details). Tool Leprechaun: The patches in the second tier share a single tool leprechaun. Third tier - Requires 85 Farming Bank: A bank with a poll booth and deposit box. A water source. Fruit Tree Patch: Identical to other fruit tree patches. There is a farmer there who will look after the patch for you. Spirit Tree Patch: Identical to other spirit tree patches. There is a farmer there who will look after the patch for you. Redwood Patch: A new patch to grow Redwood trees (see \'New Patches\' further down for more details). Celastrus Patch: A new patch to grow Celastrus trees (see \'New Patches\' further down for more details). Tool Leprechaun: The patches in the third tier share a single tool leprechaun. Farming Contracts Within the Farming guild you will also find the \'Chief Contractor\'. The Chief Contractor can assign players with contracts that require the player to grow certain crops within the Farming guild in exchange for seed packs. There are three tiers of contract available; Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3. Each contract offering is restricted based on what you can grow with access to the Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 Farming guild respectively. New Patches It wouldn\'t be an expansion to Farming if we didn\'t include some brand-new patches for you to grow various crops in and the Farming guild has a lot to offer! Farming Demiboss: The Hespori Patch - Requires 65 Farming The Hespori patch is a new patch unique to the second tier of the Farming guild. The only thing that can be grown here is a Hespori plant. The seeds for this plant can be randomly found while harvesting other plants (this can be toggled by talking to an NPC near the patch) or by completing Farming Contracts. There is an NPC here who will look after the plant while it grows (for a price). Once the patch has fully grown, the Hespori can be fought as a solo demi-boss. Killing the Hespori boss grants Farming experience. It has a loot table of seeds, including the unique White lily seed (see "Existing Patch Improvements" below). Alongside being the only way for players to gather untradeable Anima seeds, the Hespori also has a chance of dropping the Bottomless compost bucket which can hold up to 1 million compost of any kind. The Hespori is instanced with an item reclaim service that works identically to other grave systems like Grotesque Guardians/Zulrah/Vorkath, and only one can be utilised at any time. This means that any other graves will be wiped on death. Bottomless Compost Bucket Can be filled with regular, super, or Ultracompost. Can only have 1 type of compost inside it at once. Each compost used gives the bucket two charges of that kind of compost. Emptying the bucket will cause all compost stored within to be lost. When used on a patch, the bucket uses 1 charge of the current filled compost. The bucket can hold a maximum of 10,000 charges. The bucket is tradeable when empty. Anima Patch - Requires 76 Farming The Anima patch is a new patch unique to the second tier of the Farming guild. Planting something here has worldwide effects on all of your other patches. There are four types of seeds that can be planted here, which can only be obtained through fighting the Hespori and are untradeable. Attas Seeds: When planted these grow into an Attas Plant. This plant provides increased yield to all other patches in the game. Iasor Seeds: When planted these grow into an Iasor Plant. This plant decreases the disease chance for all other patches in the game. Kronos Seeds: When planted these grow into a Kronos Plant. This plant increases the speed at which other patches grow by providing a chance to skip a growth stage. These plants are active as soon as they are planted, and rather than grow over time they begin to die through their various growth stages. The plants will last approximately 3.5 days until they die and will require planting again to reap their benefits. Celastrus Patch - Requires 85 Farming The Celastrus patch is a new patch unique to the third tier of the Farming guild. Once a Celastrus patch has fully grown (which is 16 hours, the same length required to grow a fruit tree), it can be harvested for a tradeable resource, Celastrus wood, which can be turned into Battlestaves with level 40 Fletching. The amount of Celastrus wood harvested from a fully grown Celastrus patch is random, much like the way harvesting herbs works, with a minimum number of lives to ensure a guaranteed amount each harvest. Redwood Patch - Requires 90 Farming The Redwood patch is a new patch unique to the third tier of the Farming guild. Once fully grown (which is 85.3 hours, the same length required to grow a Mahogany tree) the Redwood patch turns into a Redwood tree and can be cut down for logs and Woodcutting experience. The Redwood patch is relatively close to the bank found within the third tier of the Farming guild. Large Compost Bin - Requires 45 Farming to access the first tier of the Farming guild. The Large Compost Bin works the same as any other Compost Bin but has the added benefit of being able to store double the usual amount of compost. Existing Patch Improvements Whilst the Farming guild introduces various new patches with new crops, there are certain patches in-game that we\'d also like to utilise by adding new crops for you to grow. Dragonfruit Trees - Requires 81 Farming Dragonfruit trees can be grown in Fruit tree patches around Gielinor. The seeds are tradeable and are rarely obtained through nests, boss drops or by completing Farming Contracts. Dragonfruit trees have the same growth time as other fruit trees and give the following Farming experience; 140 XP for planting, 17,335 XP for checking its health and 70 XP for harvesting. Harvesting a Dragonfruit tree gives you Dragonfruit, a new food item that can either be eaten to heal 10 hitpoints or they can be baked into Dragonfruit pies at 73 cooking. Dragonfruit pies heal 10 hitpoints per serving and provide a temporary Fletching boost of +4. In addition to being a useful stat-boosting food, 10 Dragonfruit can be squeezed into a vial to make bottled Dragon Breath. This can be used to fully charge the Dragonfire shield and similar shields instantly. White Lily - Requires 58 Farming White lily can be grown in flower patches around Gielinor. The seeds are only dropped by the Hespori, but they are tradable. White lily has the same growth time as other flowers and gives the following Farming experience; 42 XP for planting and 250 XP for harvesting. When fully grown, a flower patch with White lily in it will protect all types of crops in adjacent allotment patches. Potato Catci - Requires 64 Farming Potato cacti can be grown in cactus patches around Gielinor. The seeds are tradeable and are rarely obtained through nests, boss drops or by completing Farming Contracts. Potato cacti take 70 minutes to fully grow and give the following Farming experience; 68 XP for planting and 68 XP for harvesting. With the introduction of Potato cacti seeds, Potato cacti would be removed from the Nightmare Zone reward shop. Snape Grass - Required 71 Farming Snape grass can be grown in allotment patches around Gielinor. The seeds are tradeable and are rarely obtained through nests, boss drops or by completing Farming Contracts. Snape grass takes 70 minutes to fully grow and gives the following Farming experience; 82 XP for planting and 82 XP for harvesting. With the introduction of Snape grass seeds, Snape grass would be removed from the Nightmare Zone reward shop. Click here to return to the top of the Kebos Lowlands section. Brimstone On the northern edge of the Kebos Lowlands lies the Sulphur Volcano of Mount Karuulm. Here, the Tasakaal, masters of life and death, make their home. Within the shadow of this volcano lies Brimstone, home to the Kahlith. These beings were once human, but they have abandoned their previous lives in the name of the Tasakaal. Together, the Tasakaal and the Kahlith work together to maintain the balance between life and death. Assist them, and you might just be rewarded. Click here to read more about Brimstone and what it has to offer! Within Brimstone you\'ll find Konar, the newest Slayer Master. There is also a bank with a deposit box and poll booth, a furnace, and a weapon shop that sells some low-level weapons. New Slayer Master Konar, a member of the Kahlith race, is a new Slayer Master located in Brimstone that is accessible to players with 75 Combat. Konar is a little different when compared to your usual Slayer Master in that the tasks he assigns require you to kill monsters in a specific area. Going out of your way to complete tasks from Konar has its benefits. Each task completed from Konar rewards the player with 18 Slayer reward points and all kills on task from this master have a chance of hitting a new global loot table. The chance of hitting this loot table is scaled by the combat level of the NPC you\'re fighting, and the loot is granted in addition to any normal drop you would receive. The loot table is split into two potential rewards: - Generic loot meant as a slight increase to your profits, including food to sustain you on your task. - A rare chance of getting a new unique drop of the tradeable 1-handed Dragon hasta. The Dragon hasta is a new tradeable 1-handed weapon, dropped exclusively through completing tasks assigned by Konar. Konar (alongside all other Slayer Masters) also sells Boots of stone for 200gp. These require 44 Slayer to equip and are needed to go inside the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon detailed below. New Slayer Creatures With a new Slayer Master comes new Slayer creatures, and a new area to kill them! Near Brimstone lies the Sulphur Volcano of Mount Karuulm, home to a brand-new Slayer dungeon. The Mount Karuulm Slayer dungeon is single-way combat throughout and includes a task only area. Cannons are allowed in the entire dungeon, aside from a separate chamber where the Alchemical Hydra can be found (see "Alchemical Hydra" below for more information). In order to stay inside the Karuulm Slayer Dungeon safely you will need to wear Boots of stone, else you\'ll take consistent damage until you do. Sulphur Lizards - Requires 44 Slayer Sulphur Lizards, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned by Mazchna, Vannaka and Chaeldar. They have no noteworthy mechanics or drops, and attack with melee only. They are intended to add some additional variety to the low-level Slayer bracket. Slayer Masters that assign Desert Lizards would instead assign "Lizards", allowing players to kill either Desert or Sulphur Lizards to complete their task. Wyrm - Requires 62 Slayer Wyrms, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned by Duradel, Nieve, Chaeldar and Konar. Wyrms have a very rare chance to drop the Dragon sword and Dragon harpoon, previously found within the Chambers of Xeric. Both the Dragon sword and Dragon harpoon would be removed from the Chambers of Xeric loot table. Drake - Requires 84 Slayer Drakes, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned by Duradel, Nieve and Konar. They do not fly and use both melee and ranged attacks. Drakes have a chance to drop their claws and teeth, both of which are attachments for boots. A Drake claw can be combined with Boots of stone to create the tradeable Boots of brimstone. This process cannot be undone. Boots of brimstone require 70 Defence, 70 Magic, 70 Ranged and 44 Slayer to equip. A Drake tooth can be combined with Holy sandals to create the tradeable Devout boots. This process cannot be undone. Devout boots require 60 Prayer to equip and are considered an item of Saradomin inside the God Wars Dungeon. Hydra - Requires 95 Slayer Hydras, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, are assigned exclusively by Konar. They use both ranged and magic attacks. Hydras have a chance to drop three untradeable ring pieces and a Hydra tail which is an attachment for the Dragonbone necklace. Eye of the hydra, Fang of the hydra and Heart of the hydra. When combined, these pieces form the tradeable Brimstone ring. The ring has no requirements to equip and has a 1/4 chance with each spell cast to ignore 10% of your opponent\'s total Magic Defence. Hydra tail When a Hydra tail is combined with a Dragonbone necklace and a Bonecrusher, it forms the untradeable Bonecrusher necklace. The necklace requires 80 Prayer to equip and gives the effect of both the Bonecrusher and the Dragonbone necklace (the necklace must be equipped for 9 seconds to gain the effect of the Dragonbone necklace). The necklace is charged with Ecto-tokens as per the Bonecrusher and maintains the same Prayer restoration rate as the Dragonbone necklace. The effect of the Bonecrusher also applies whilst the Bonecrusher necklace is in your inventory. The process of combining these items is reversible. Alchemical Hydra - Requires 95 Slayer The Alchemical Hydra, located within the Brimstone Slayer Dungeon, is a new solo Slayer boss assigned exclusively by Konar. It can only be fought as part of a Hydra Slayer task or a Boss task (of which only Konar will be able to assign). The Alchemical Hydra will not be an easy opponent, and as such you will be well rewarded if you manage to defeat it. It has a chance to drop the Ferocious gloves, a Hydra claw which is an attachment for the Zamorak hasta, all Hydra unique drops and of course... a pet Alchemical Hydra. Ferocious gloves Ferocious gloves are a new tradeable pair of gloves with a focus on offensive melee. They require 70 Defence to equip. Hydra claw When a Hydra claw is combined with a Zamorakian hasta, it forms the tradeable Dragon hunter Lance. This process cannot be undone. The lance requires 70 Attack to equip and has the added effect of 20% increased Accuracy and Damage against Dragon creatures, though it loses its defensive capabilities during its creation. Additional Drops Alongside the individual drops mentioned above, you\'ll have a chance to receive Dragon knives and Dragon thrownaxes from Wyrms, Drakes, Hydras and the Alchemical Hydra. Dragon thrownaxe would be removed from the Chambers of Xeric loot table. Dragon Knife Dragon knives are tradeable, require 60 Ranged to equip and can be poisoned. They have a special attack, Duality, which costs 25% Special Attack energy and causes two knives to be thrown at once, each with their own accuracy and damage rolls. New Unique Bones With the introduction of new creatures we bring new types of bones. Wyrm bones offer 30 Prayer XP, Drake bones offer 60 Prayer XP and Hydra bones offer 90 Prayer XP (both Hydras and the Alchemical Hydra drop these). These bones would work in the usual way with other features like the Gilded altar and Ectofuntus. Click here to return to the top of the Kebos Lowlands section. Aerial Fishing In the middle of Lake Molch is a small island home to Nicolas Louchart, a peculiar fishing person with a very different approach to catching. Nicolas uses birds, specifically Cormorants to catch and return fish and salamanders that take residence in the nearby waters. Similar to Falconry when training Hunter, the player equips the bird on their arm. When clicking a fishing pool, the bird swoops down and returns to the player with the catch. If the player\'s inventory is full, the bird swallows the catch and doesn\'t award any experience to the player. The player must have both hands free to wield the bird. Click here to read more about Aerial Fishing and what it has to offer! A catch is guaranteed for each time the bird is sent. The pools of fish move at a somewhat frequent rate, around every 7-12 seconds. Multiple people can catch from the same pool and will see people fishing from all sides of the circular island. If the bird is sent whilst the pool is moving to a new location, it still counts as a successful catch. King Worms are used as a starting bait which can be gathered on the island. When the player starts to catch fish, they can cut the fish up into stackable \'Fish chunks\'. The bird will take 1 chunk every 3-6 catches as a reward for gathering the fish. There are 4 types of catch found in Lake Molch: Bluegill Bluegill require 43 Fishing and 35 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing. Common Tench Common tench require 56 Fishing and 51 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing. Mottled Eel Mottled eel require 73 Fishing and 68 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing. Greater Siren Greater siren require 91 Fishing and 87 Hunter to catch with Aerial Fishing. Molch Pearls Molch pearls can be fished up from Lake Molch when Aerial Fishing. These have a 1/150 chance of being fished up on a successful catch. They are stackable and can be traded with the Angler in his pearl store for various untradeable rewards. Equippable Fishing Rod - 100 Molch pearls Equippable Fly Fishing Rod - 120 Molch pearls Equippable Barbarian Fishing Rod - 150 Molch pearls (can only be purchased if you\'ve got the relevant progress with Otto) Fish sack - 1000 Molch pearls Golden Tench In addition to your expected catch, when fishing with your Cormorant, there is a very slim chance that it will return with an extremely rare \'Golden Tench\'. This is a fish that can be equipped in the hand and has no stats. It is not tradeable. A player wearing the Golden tench and Fish sack. The Golden tench is an extremely rare reward from Aerial Fishing. It has no stats, is not tradeable and is purely cosmetic. At level 43 Fishing and 35 Hunter, you should expect to earn approximately 17k Fishing, 25k Hunter and 5k Cooking experience per hour from Aerial Fishing. Cooking experience is only granted if you are cutting the catch. At level 99 Fishing and 99 Hunter, you should expect to earn approximately 60k Fishing, 80k Hunter and 15k Cooking experience per hour from Aerial Fishing. Cooking experience is only granted if you are cutting the catch. Click here to return to the top of the Kebos Lowlands section. The scholars of the Wizards\' Tower were quick to act and immediately began studying the monolithic monstrosities. They quickly discovered a method of manipulating the energy within the rocks and with various magical tools used it to create armour with impressive capabilities. Some would say this came far too easily. As if they knew exactly what they were doing... Dive into Old School RuneScape\'s first new skill by discovering the hidden armaments of the Wizards\' Tower and gaining insight into the practice of Warding. There you will learn the intricate art of drawing Wards and channelling Runic energy to create a vast array of armour suited for Witches and Wizards. Click here to read more about Warding! Where does Warding fit into Old School? To understand the role of Warding, let\'s identify the gap it\'s designed to fill. As Smithing is to Melee and Crafting is to Ranged, Warding is to Magic. Currently, mage equipment is either bought or dropped by monsters rather than created by the player, making Magic an exception to the other two sides of the combat triangle. Warding allows players to channel Runic energy into woven materials and transform them into magical robes and armour. To train Warding, players must draw a Ward onto the ground and use materials they have gathered on it. This channels the power of the Anima Mundi, in the form of Runic energy, into the materials. Materials The materials used in Warding will include various barks, cloths and leathers. These can be woven from raw materials acquired by Farming, Hunter and killing certain monsters. To create new equipment, new prey will be added to the Hunter skill and new crops will be added for Farming. The latter will include a Magnanerie for cultivating worms and harvesting their silk. Runic Energy Runic energy is a powerful new resource contained within the Runestone monoliths. Players can draw Runic the energy out and store it by casting spells on the monoliths. This gives players the option to train Magic by splashing but with the added benefit of gathering a useful resource at the same time. This should take splashers out of the Lumbridge Castle basement and spread them across Gielinor at more thematic locations. Wearing equipment that provides a Magic bonus will increase Runic energy potential, breaking up the army of graceful clones! It will also be possible to passively collect energy at Rune altars when Runecrafting. The energy will be a tiered resource, meaning that you will gather Mind Energy at one Runic monolith and Death energy at another, for example. The tier of energy you need for Warding will depend on your level and the equipment you wish to create. A conversion system which will allow Runic energy to be upgraded or downgraded, but some will be lost in the process. Tools Soapstones The first tools used for Warding are Soapstones. These are created by chiselling a lump of Steatite and charging it with runes. Steatite can be obtained through Mining or bought from shops and other players. You can create four different Soapstones, depending on the runes you use to charge them: Air, Water, Earth, and Fire. The more powerful Soapstones will require a higher Warding level to use but have an added benefit. This may take the form of reduced Runic energy consumption but is subject to balancing. You will be able to use Wards drawn by other players to receive the benefit of higher level Soapstones when training, adding a social element to the skill. While you can draw a Ward anywhere, players may choose to Ward at the Runic monolith sites for lower rates of Runic energy use at the cost of being further away from a bank. Channelling Lamps Channelling Lamps are equippable tools used to store Runic energy. When casting spells on Runic monoliths or Runecrafting, the Runic energy you generate will fill the lamp you have equipped. Higher level lamps will be required to gather higher tier energy or use it at a Ward. A Step by Step Guide to Warding A player gathers raw resources from Farming, Hunter or trade which are woven or prepared into material. Then, Runic energy is gathered by casting spells on a Runestone monolith or Runecrafting and stored in a Channelling lamp. The player draws a Ward on the ground with a Soapstone and uses their materials on it, channelling the Runic energy into them to create magical equipment. Equipment Below is a partial table of how we imagine the Warding skill guide to appear. This includes the item, level, and resources required. Other Perks Dissolving Another use for Wards take the form of dissolving. This involves using undesired or junk items and using them on a Ward to break them down. In return, you\'ll receive Runic energy and a chance to get back some of the components the item is made of. For example, dissolving an Adamant Platebody will give a chance of receiving back some Adamant bars. Nightmare Zone Many consider the Nightmare Zone to be overpowered - particularly the reward shop. To make both the Nightmare Zone and Warding feel as thematic and Old School as possible, there is the option to tie the ability to imbue rings and other items to various Warding levels. Impact of Warding on Old School We appreciate this is a lot to take in and that many of you will have an avalanche of questions for Mod West and the Old School team. At the end of this blog, there are links to the feedback threads where you can ask questions and discuss ideas for the skill. We have also anticipated some of the questions you may have and done our best to answer them. Bear in mind much of this is subject to change and some of it may be irrelevant as the skill takes shape! Is Warding available to non-members? Similar to Smithing and Crafting, Warding is designed to be open to free players though the highest-level equipment and specialised items will be members only. We expect the lower level items, up to around level 40, to be available in free to play. Will Warding be quest locked? Due to the nature of the skill, we would like it to be accessible as early as possible in the game. Ideally this means shortly after leaving Tutorial Island, prospective mages will be able to create their own equipment the same way warriors and rangers can. With this in mind, we don\'t plan to lock the skill behind a quest. Other skills may help, as Mining does for Smithing, but will not be a requirement. Can Warding produce BIS equipment? The goal of Warding is to create viable equipment, particularly for low to medium level players the same way Smithing and Crafting produce up to Rune and Black d\'hide armour. However, Warding provides access to defensive magical armours and will not produce armour with high magical accuracy bonuses. We still expect the top tier magical equipment to include the likes of Ahrim\'s and Ancestral. There is scope for further equipment to be added to Warding if the community sees fit. NB SOULBARK AND BLOODBARK IMAGES How will Warding affect the economy? We expect that as a production skill, Warding will stimulate the in-game economy overall. It creates further incentives to train Farming, Hunter and Runecraft. However, it\'s far too early to predict the prices of the resources, materials and created equipment or if the skill will be a good money-making method. Gathering Runic energy could be profitable for players willing to sell to others who don\'t want to get it themselves. A Video on Warding Your Feedback The Warding skill, designed by Mod West excites us a lot and we\'re keen to hear your thoughts. Song of the Elves The fabled Elf series begins with Plague City where the player character, discovers the whole West side of Ardougne has been locked under quarantine by mysterious figures known as the Mourners. After breaking into the city and rescuing Elena, during Biohazard she gives you some plague samples to have tested by a chemist. Upon completing this task, you discover the plague is a hoax and confront King Lathas who admits to fabricating this lie. He claims this was done to protect his people from his evil brother King Tyras who has been corrupted by a mysterious Dark Lord. You undertake the task of freeing the passage to the elven lands with the goal of facing King Tyras in Underground Pass, defeating Iban along the way. In Regicide, you make your way back through the pass into the elven lands and assassinate King Tyras with the help of Lord Iorwerth, Kind Lathas\' ally. On your way to deliver the news to King Lathas, you are incepted by Arianwyn who reveals that it is in fact Iorwerth and Lathas serving the Dark Lord and that they are plotting to reclaim Camelot. In Mourning\'s End Part I you gain access to Lletya, the rebel elves\' hideout and meet with Arianwyn. After discovering that the Mourners are elves from the capital city, you decide to infiltrate Mourner HQ. There you learn from the head mourner that their real job is to keep people believing in the plague. Their plan is to use the victims as slaves to dig through a temple with the goal of resurrecting the Dark Lord. Through Mourning\'s End Part II travel to the Temple of Light and navigate your way through by solving the intricate security system using mirrors and discover the Death Altar at its end. Using a charged crystal, repaired for you by Eluned, you activate the large crystal at the Temple\'s entrance, sealing it for another thousand years. Now it is time to join Elena and her allies in exposing the plague hoax and starting a revolution against King Lathas and Lord Iorwerth in Song of the Elves. The Old School Team presents the newest Grandmaster quest - completing the game\'s first ever storyline! Click here to read more about the Song of the Elves! Prifddinas You can click the map for a larger version. Prifddinas was first added to the map 14 years ago, and we think it\'s fair to say it\'s been a long time coming. Those who manage to bring an end to the schemes of King Lathas and Lord Iorwerth will finally be able to access the crystal city of Prifddinas. Within its walls lie many new characters and challenges. We\'ll only be detailing two things within this blog, but rest assured there is much more to come. We\'ll be releasing a dedicated blog for Song of the Elves in the near future with more information and additions based on your feedback and ideas! The Gauntlet To the PvMers among you, we present The Gauntlet! A brand-new challenge requiring players to start from scratch with no weapons or armour. Face off against crystalline versions of monsters Collect resources, weapons and armour as you go The pressure will be on as you find your time to gather equipment is rather limited before you engage in combat All new boss monster to face, expected to be one of the toughest Old School has ever seen Skilling Boss We also have the latest skilling boss, which will also be found within the city. Too powerful for normal weapons, use multiple skills with a focus on the Mining skill to create explosives which damage the boss Unlike the Wintertodt, expect this boss to deal damage to you directly rather than just through the environment For successfully defeating the boss, expect to be rewarded with Mining resources and a shot at brand new uniques A focus on item rewards rather than experience Crystal Armour To match existing Crystal weapons, completing Song of the Elves will grant access to unlock Crystal armour from within Prifddinas, one of many rewards on offer. The new set is expected to roughly match the stats of the existing Crystal shield and be similar in strength to Barrows. Your Feedback Just as we are looking for the Community\'s opinion on Warding, we also want to hear your ideas for Song of the Elves and Prifddinas. In the spirit of Old School, it\'s down to you to shape the crystal city by letting us know what kind of content you would like to see! There are eight elven districts, leaving lots of room for small, medium and large content. Your feedback and suggestions for both The Gauntlet and the skilling boss are highly appreciated. We intend to poll Song of the Elves later this year. Please make sure you have expanded the various sections to see all of the information in the blog. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and as such we invite you to be vocal about sharing it with us. 2. Log in News Home - News Home Master Clue Reward and Quality of Life Changes October 04 2018 This week sees the release of the new Master Clue scroll reward item from the recent Master Clue scroll competition as well as some QoL changes from the Content Poll #60. Master Clue Competition Reward The winner of the Master Clue reward item competition, the Sack of Scrolls, has been released. You can obtain this cosmetic item after completing 100 Master level clues by talking to Watson. He'll also allow you to reclaim it if lost. Guaranteed KQ Head Drop The Kalphite Queen now has a guarenteed drop of a Kq head (tattered) on the 256th kill. The tattered head can be used to create the KQ Head trophy in your Player Owned House which is a requirement for the Desert Elite diary. However, it cannot be used to create the green Slayer helm. The head will also be dropped even if you have already completed the relevant Desert Elite diary task. Al Kharid Palace Shortcut A shortcut has been added to the back of the Al Kharid Palace, allowing players with level 70 Agility to pass through a window if they've unlocked the Desert diary's Hard rewards. This allows easier access to Shantay Pass after using an Al Kharid teleport via an Amulet of glory. Grand Exchange Offers Prompt It is now possible to receive a message listing the contents of you Collection Box in the Grand Exchange when you log in. This has a two minute break to avoid being spammed every time you hop worlds. To enable this, toggle talk to one of the Grand Exchange clerks. Mobile: Reporting Multi Menu Players on mobile will now be prompted with a menu for selecting the type of report they wish to submit. Here, you can toggle whether the Report option appears when right-clicking other players. This is designed to aid the user experience when submitting reports. Tutorial Island Prompt The large yellow hint arrow which appears when new players are idle on Tutorial Island has been replaced with something more useful and informative. Coming Soon: Mobile Spellbook Rework Adding a filter to the spellbook for Mobile users was a bigger job than it sounds. It should be easy hiding spells that you don't have the level or runes to cast, right? Similarly, switching to bigger icons if there aren't many remaining should be straightforward. "If the spell needs law runes, and you have no law runes, don't draw it, and if there are only ~20 icons remaining, draw them all bigger." The problem was that the game never had a look-up table that could do the check. It's a legacy code thing. Back in 2004 when RuneScape 2 came out, runescript didn't have all the features it does today, especially when it comes to look-up tables and data structures (see what a decade of engine work gets you). So data tended to be written into the code directly, and that's how it continued. In this example from Varrock Teleport, the code would check for level 25 and abort if you hadn't got it. Then it'd check for the specified runes, and abort if you hadn't got those. It was the same for the spellbook interface. When the Varrock Teleport button loaded, it would run some code, passing in the GFX, the level requirement, the name and description, and the runes, so that when a player hovered over the spell they'd have a tooltip generated to show that info. The code could generate tooltips but it couldn't do anything else. Spells with multiple forms would have all this data written into all the code versions separately. For example, Weaken had the level and rune checks written into its PvM version and also into its PvP version, and these had to match whatever was written into the spellbook interface. For spells that could be autocast, the level and rune checks were written out yet again, so the game could check whether you should be allowed to set that spell for autocasting. That doesn't work very well for this filter update. "If the spell needs law runes, and you have no law runes, don't draw it..." - but none of the code described above would be able to do that. We'd got code on the server that could decide whether or not to cast the spell, and code on the client that could decide how to draw a tooltip, but none of these could make the spellbook interface decide not to show the icon at all, nor shuffle the remaining icons into a grid. For this update, we had the choice of doing a quickie job by writing a separate bit of code that would run the level & rune checks for each spell to hide them, shuffling the remaining icons into a grid. That wouldn't take long, but it would have left us with yet another piece of code with the data duplicated into it. We decided to do a more thorough job. Each spell now has a data structure, listing all its core attributes. We can now refer to this directly from any piece of code, both on the server and client. The same data can now be read by: Attempting to cast a spell on an NPC. Attempting to cast a spell on a player. Setting up the tooltip on the spellbook interface. Deciding whether to show the spell on the spellbook interface, and rearranging other spells accordingly. Attempting to choose the spell for autocasting. Setting up the tooltip on the autocast interface. Any kinds of future update, such as offering the info on the skill-guide... The data entry took over a week due to all the oddities of various spells. Oddly enough, rewriting the code of the spellbook interface to read this data instead of what it had before, and to generate its layout accordingly, took only a day - albeit a day with quite a late night in the office. A further day (and late night) was spent building in a filter menu for Mobile users, and gave them an option for bringing up the tooltip on mobile devices, which they previously couldn't. That just left us to rewrite the server code for each spell to read this data too. There are 176 spells (counting Home Teleport and Bounty Teleport on each spellbook where they appear) so that was a rather large job, especially as any error would likely lead to serious bugs. This took over a week. While we were editing each spell, we also moved the 'combat delay' code slightly in each one, so that if you try to cast a spell for which you don't have the runes, you won't be 'delayed' from casting more spells - that might be handy for those of us without pinpoint clicking precision. Some unrelated code needed rewriting too. The Great Olm's fires can be extinguished by water spells, and the code for those needed editing to use this data so that it stays reasonably maintainable. Similarly the spell tablet creation process uses this data, both for POH tablets and the Arceuus ones. Once all that was done, the testers were able to begin checking each spell individually. Over the course of about 3 weeks, each spell was checked for: Level requirement. Level requirement. Rune requirements. F2P/members availability (taking into account that some spells are permitted specially in LMS). Combat delay against an NPC. Combat delay against a player. Autocast handling. Spell tablets. Unfortunately, the final thing to be checked was the F2P/members availability. That turned out to be where the most severe bug was found during testing - an engine feature being used to read this data turned out not to handle members' data correctly on F2P. It turned out that we'd not used that bit of the engine in this way before, and hadn't encountered this problem with it. So, with that critical bug being found this week, we've had to push the spellbook update back to next week (Thursday 11th October). Your continued patience is very much appreciated. To desktop users, the spellbook ultimately doesn't look much changed, other than that we fixed the inconsistent column spacing on the Ancient spellbook, and listed the spell ingredients in a more consistent order throughout. But under the hood there's been a vast amount of maintenance done over the last few weeks. Maybe that's not a benefit for players now, but in the game's future it really should be. As you'll have gathered, there's a lot of scope for error in a rewrite of this scale. Incorrect transcription of data could lead to spells requiring the wrong runes or levels. Incorrect adaptation of the spell code could lead to spells having no combat delay (enabling 1-tick spellcasting), or deleting the runes off you twice, or even just crashing you offline. We've worked very hard on to get the data correct and to check each aspect of each spells individually, but with a project this size, there's a real likelihood of something being wrong somewhere. If you do run into problems, just right-click the Report button in the game (or long-press it if you're on Mobile) to find the bug report form, where you can let the testers know quickly and conveniently. And thanks for your patience while we invest in making the OSRS codebase more manageable for the future! - Mod Ash In Other News The order of the friends/ignore list and account management icons on the resizable interface has been corrected. The Runecrafting pouch will now only display an "Empty" option with the bank interface open if it is completely full. Players are can no longer skip character creation at the beginning of the tutorial. This is to allow players who accidentally close the interface at the start to customise their character. A delay has been added to the Agility jump at the Winterdodt while the boss is still alive. This is to make people focus on subduing the Wintertodt rather than jumping across the gap for the duration. The "Don't show this warning again in this session" options around the Chambers of Xeric will now correctly let the warning be shown again in subsequent login sessions. The Jester in Neitiznot can now be walked through and won't disrupt player pathfinding. The fish shop in Jatizso now has a fish shop icon rather than a general store icon. The Achievement Diary task for making a Chocolate bomb now updates more reliably. Pets will now follow you out of Vorkath's lair more reliably. Messages about climbing over the ice can now be filtered. The Smoke devil pet dialogue saying that all their models appear the same has been replaced. If a dragonfire shield attack (or equivalent attack) is cancelled, the game will now attempt to let you carry on using your standard attack with less interruption to your combat flow. 3. Log in News Home - News Home Charity Auction October 03 2018 RuneFest Charity Auction If you're anything like us, you're counting down the days until RuneFest 2018; can you believe how close we are? You can almost taste the winter snow from the Fremennik lands. In the spirit of all things community related, we've decided to team up with our three chosen charities to help raise some extra money to support these incredibly important initiatives. This year has been fantastic for us raising money for our charities, with the previous eBay charity auction bringing in over 35,000 for GameBlast alone. Because of your kind donations, we're also hosting an eBay charity auction to coincide with RuneFest. The money raised will be split between CPSL Mind, The Prince's Trust and YMCA. These will be going live over the next 24 hours and finishing during the day of RuneFest, so keep one eye on the RuneFest stream and the other eye on eBay auctions so you don't miss out! We can't wait to see how much money you all raise! You can follow our eBay page here! If you're not interested in our eBay auction but are interested in our charities, theres a number of ways you can still get involved. These include sharing this page, visiting each of the charity's websites or by making a donation. CPSL Mind CPSL Mind is a local mental health charity that provides support to individuals experiencing mental health problems, both during periods of crisis and on the road to recovery. We promote positive mental well-being and tackle stigma and discrimination within our communities. Our STOP Suicide campaign, which Jagex wholeheartedly supports, aims to prevent suicides by raising awareness of the warning signs and giving members of the public the skills/confidence to have open conversations about suicide if they are worried about someone and help those at risk to stay safe. The Prince's Trust The Princes Trust believes that every young person should have the chance to succeed and helps 11 to 30-year olds who are unemployed or struggling to transform their lives. Many of the young people helped by The Trust are in or leaving care, facing issues such as homelessness or mental health problems. The Trusts free programmes help vulnerable young people to develop skills while boosting their confidence and motivation, providing the practical and financial support they need to stabilise their lives. The Princes Trust International is currently working in Australia, Barbados, Canada, India, Jordan, Malta, Pakistan and Qatar delivering four core programmes as well as the International Leadership Programme and Enterprise Challenge (formerly Mosaic). We are currently looking at the potential to expand our reach into the USA and the wider Caribbean within the next phase of growth. YMCA The YMCA Right Here Project works with young people to educate, campaign and influence others around health and well-being. They provide a wide range of resource guides, videos and online tools around mental health that are accessible to young people, parents/carers and professionals across the country. They have delivered workshops around mental health to approximately 2,000 students and 500 young people have engaged in their therapy-based activities, including their walk and talk sessions with Geoffrey the pug! Their young volunteers gave over 1,800 hours of their time last year to design and deliver work that improves health outcomes for young people. Thank you for your generous support. 4. Log in News Home - News Home Old School and RuneScape Wiki October 02 2018 Old School and RuneScape Wiki Partnership Were excited to share some news about a project that weve been working on for a while - both the Old School RuneScape Wiki RuneScape Wiki and are moving to new, better homes! You can find them at https://oldschool.runescape.Wiki and https://runescape.Wiki. Dont worry, they're still completely driven and curated by the community. They still have the same content and the same editors. Want to know more? Read on! Why have the Wikis moved? The Wikis have been up and running for over 10 years, and have become one of the best and most useful resources for our game. While the editors have done a great job over the years cataloguing every aspect of RuneScape, theyve experienced some difficulty with the platform that they were previously hosted on. We wanted to help bring the Wiki community to an independent platform that gave them the freedom to manage their own content, better control how the site looks and shape the way it functions. Weve been working behind the scenes with the Wiki team to help them create a better user experience. Does Jagex control the Wikis? Absolutely not. Weve always loved that the Wikis are a community driven project, and we dont want to interfere with that by controlling any aspect of its content or data. Well still of course provide any support to the guys running the Wikis if they need anything! Will the Wiki pages be available in other languages? There are plans to create multiple language channels in the Wiki. This would allow for cooperation with localised knowledge bases that exist already. Can we expect in-game integration? In-game integration with the Wikis in some form is something that wed love to do, but we havent committed to it as a project. Wed be interested in hearing from players about what their ideal integration with the Wikis would be - whether its being able to examine an item and get a link to the Wiki, or using a command in the chat to open a Wiki page. Why partner with the Wiki? Over the past decade, the RuneScape and Old School Wiki has become the go-to place for in game guides and information. The Wikis userbase has grown to an extent that its widely recognised they are an extension of the game being used by most players and ourselves at Jagex. The key strength of the Wiki is its dedicated core team and numerous contributors. As any player wishing to contribute and update the Wiki can do so, it continually grows and evolves to match in-game content as a living encyclopaedia. This makes them the ideal team to extend a hand to and offer our support. While we consider the Wikis to be an encyclopaedia rather than a fansite, some have asked if this means well be offering support for fansites in future. This isnt something weve done for a few years and is not a part of our current or future strategy. This is unlikely to change as the community continues its shift away from fansites and towards social media platforms. How can I help? Both the RuneScape Wiki and the Old School RuneScape Wiki are edited and maintained by players and the best way of helping is to contribute information! Found a new training method for a particular skill? Maybe you know some tactics for fighting a boss that others may not? Either way, free free to get involved! If editing isnt your thing, you can still help out! Just spread the word that the Wikis have moved to a new spot. >Mods Archie, Ash, Ayiza, Bruno, Curse, Ed, Gambit, Ghost, Kieren, Lenny, Lottie, Mat K, Maz, Munro, Roq, Ry, Stone, Sween, Weath, West & Wolf The Old School Team This website and its contents are copyright © 1999 - 2018 Jagex Ltd, 220 Science Park, Cambridge, CB4 0WA, United Kingdom. 5. Log in News Home - News Home Kourend Rework 2: Hosidius House October 01 2018 Kourend Rework 2: Hosidius House Mod West has been hard at work looking at ways he can improve Kourend. This blog is from his viewpoint and covers his intentions with the Hosidius House in particular, giving you the opportunity to provide any feedback where you see fit. The Kourend Rework that we implemented in late 2016 helped tackle the issues of Zeah's overall shape, the lack of bodies of water and the absence of castles. What it failed to do was address the issue with building size as this would have required tweaking the wall kits, which at the time, was way beyond the scope of the project. If you take the area of all banks in Old School RuneScape, you'll find the largest on the mainland is Varrock west (not including the Grand Exchange, of course) with an area of roughly 165, while the biggest bank on Zeah is Arceuus bank at an area of 324. That's almost twice the size of Varrock west. The size of a bank may not mean much to you, but think of it this way - when 5 people are stood in Seers' Village bank, it seems busy. However, if you have the same amount of players stood in either the Arceuus, Shayzien or Hosidius bank, the place seems empty. This perpetuates the idea that Zeah is a ghost town and that nobody is there, when in truth there are plenty of players there (as much as many other places in OSRS), it's just that they're incredibly spread out. Another issue that didn't get addressed was how bloated a lot of the houses feel, which is a side effect of the building sizes. In this blog I'd like to go through some proposed changes to the design of the Hosidius House in particular. Your feedback will help shape any changes that are made, so please use the links found at the bottom of the post to send anything you'd like, or you can find me on Twitter @JagexWest. Tithe Farm The Tithe Farm is currently the central location of Hosidius House and fills an entire map square for very little reason. Firstly, the Tithe minigame is instanced and a single player (after a fair amount of practise) can at most plant 20 fruits simultaneously, which equates to 5 patches. There are 31 patches - that's about 26 too many. Secondly, the location makes traversing Hosidius House a pain, as there is always going to be at least 1 map square you have to run around to get anywhere else. In my proposal, the Tithe Farm has been shrunk to accommodate 34 plantable locations (compared to the roughly 122 that are currently in the Tithe Farm) and moved to the south-eastern corner of Hosidius House, where there is currently a farming patch and some cows. Also, a notable change is the lack of Logova Gricoller's Cooking Supplies store, or by its more known name, "Xeric's Glade". Now that the farming patch has been moved, the only notable feature here is the Tithe Farm, which has its own minigame teleport so the need for a teleport to be here is reduced. Logovas' store has been moved into the main town market, while the building and teleport have been moved to the north of the Vinery. If you feel the glade should remain in its current location and there is a genuine reason for it to be so, I'm not against swapping it with the ruin. Hosidius Town Once the Tithe Farm has been moved, a large area of land will have been freed up to be utilised in an interesting way. What's more interesting than a new town! Most buildings seen in the image above are not new, but rather relocated, and in some cases have had their layout changed. The only new buildings are the ones directly north of the Farmers Market and the rounded building east of the market, which are a Corn Exchange and a Granary respectively. The house of Lord Hosidius has been moved from its previous location east of the Vinery, the chapel has also been moved over and a ruin has now appeared in its wake. Other notable features are the moving of the main bank and the pub, as well as the appearance of a Farmers Market. There are a few new additions around the outskirts of this town too. To the south is the new location of the farming patch, to the east is Xeric's Glade, to the west is a ruined temple and to the north there now features a flax field, some cows and chickens. Western Hosidius Ignore the Old Fort for now, as that is covered in a different section. Western Hosidius is now far emptier due to the houses being moved into the town, giving more space for the cookhouse, as well as reshaping of the Mess to have a smaller footprint. Another notable change is Watson's house - he's had a bit of an upgrade. Ruined Temple Dungeon - aka Hosidius Dungeon Spider's Den The first large room that lies within the Hosidius Dungeon is a large Red Spider nest that contains 21 Red Spiders and Abqar, a 5x5 giant red spider that fires highly accurate ranged attacks. Temple Kitchen In the second room you'll find an injured Saradominist Monk called Brother Aimeri who, once healed to full health, will give the player valuable information about the dungeon. In the adjoining room, 6 Undead Druids can be found around an ancient clay stove. The Grubby Chest At the end of a long corridor is a locked gate that can be picked with 57 Thieving. Behind the door lies the Grubby Chest, to unlock it, use a Grubby Key on it. The Grubby Chest contains an assortment of foods by rolling 4 times on the table below. This means the most food that can be obtained is 24 (healing a total 192) and a minimum of 8 (healing a total of 152). The Library This room contains 4 Undead Druids and various bookshelves that can be searched for Ancient texts, these describe snippets of lore about the ancient religion of the sun that is practised in the southern Kingdom of Varlamore. Scorched Grotto A large room containing 9 Red Dragons. The west entrance leads to the Library while to the north lies a shortcut that requires 75 Agility to navigate. There is also a corridor to the north-west that leads to the Sacrificial Chamber - but the door needs to be unlocked from the other side. Altar of the Sun This room contains an NPC called Olbertus and an Altar for recharging prayer points. Crypt of the Moon This large room has 8 Undead Druids and a stone relief depicting Ralos & Ranul, the opposing forces of an old druidic religion. Sacrificial Chamber Eodan the Tanner has set up a miniature tanning stall within the chamber, he charges far higher prices than other tanners. In the center of the small room is a Bone Burner, this can be used to sacrifice bones for a 3x experience multiplier. There is also a chance that rewards will appear on the plinth, including the Temple Key. Characters Brother Aimeri A monk who decided to research the history of the temple but has managed to get stuck after narrowly escaping from the Spider's Den. If you give him some food, he will tell you information about any items you find within the dungeon. Olbertus A shady character with something to sell... Eodan the Tanner He can be found in the locked ritual chamber, he offers an expensive option for tanning any leathers you happen to have with you. The price is based on the usual tanning costs multiplied by 10. So for example, Tanning dragon leather will cost 200gp per hide. Items Grubby Key A key that is dropped from the monsters within the Hosidius Dungeon that can be used on the Grubby Chest - A chest that contains an assortment of various foods. Temple Key The key used to open the shortcuts within the Hosidius Dungeon, it can be retrieved by sacrificing bones to the flame in the sacrificial chamber. Old Fort & Saltpetre The Old Fort is a relic of old Kourend, a stronghold that was utilised during the war of the five houses. After King Kharedst I rebuilt the kingdom, he demanded all strongholds be abandoned and a single castle would be built on the fields of war where the main battle took place. Before the war, Hosidius House was built around a Saltpetre deposit - this invaluable resource is what made Hosidius House the powerhouse of farming trade that it still is today. However, the old town is now occupied by a small company that operate the Saltpetre distribution to all of Kourend. Due to the moving of the bank, you'd imagine this may make collecting saltpetre a hassle, but worry not! The structure in the centre of the 5 saltpetre deposits has a deposit box. The reason for not adding another bank here is because it isn't necessary and adding banks for the sake of convenience is, dare I say it, easyscape. The shortcut has been moved farther north and the shortcuts old location now houses a bridge. This improves the flow of the area and puts the spirit tree almost as close to the farming patch as the house portal. Within the Old Fort there are various creatures: Skeletons (Level 45) Giant Bats (Level 27) Castletown Kourend castle has always felt like part of Hosidius House, this is likely due to it sharing the same style of paths. These paths don't really fit the Hosidius House all too well due to being a house that focuses on farming, not Roman roads. Now that Hosidius town has all the houses that used to take up this space, opportunities for parks and houses for the council arise, creating a small central town of its own. This helps to create a buffer around Hosidius house, avoiding Kourend looking like a kingdom sized city. This will be explored further with Arceuus house and Lovakengj house. Afterword This is a personal project of mine, meaning I mostly spend my free time working on this type of stuff. Because of that, don't expect this in a timely manner, especially as I want to incorporate your feedback as much as possible. It's also important to highlight that the other projects of mine haven't been abandoned, I'm just being more wary on what I can do in the time I have and the impact it will have on the game. While I'm a big fan of my other designs, I feel this needs to be done sooner rather than later as it impacts future additions to Zeah which we're very much interested in making. 6. Log in News Home - News Home Decanting, Withdraw X, and Bucket Packs September 27 2018 This week sees major QoL updates including improved decanting, withdraw-x banking on desktop, and the highly anticipated Bucket packs. A new model for the Thermonuclear smoke devil has been added alongside several mobile changes. Improved Decanting This week, both Bob Barter and Zahur have received a buff. They can now decant potions into 1, 2, and 3 doses rather than just 4. If you do not have enough empty vials or cups when you attempt to decant your potions or tea, you can take gold with you and Bob will sell you empties for the current Grand Exchange price plus 2gp each. Mini Dev Blog: The decanting job was quite a challenge. Something that takes our brains mere seconds to work out actually turned out to be quite a long winded process when put into RuneScript. The main stumbling block I came up against was inventory space which is why you will find the algorithm prefers giving you noted potions. This allows it to process more potions per iteration and hence makes it more efficient. I made several prototypes of this code with varying methods for converting the potions, in the end the final algorithm worked out to be approximately 750 lines long and took about 40 hours spread across 2 weeks to write. There was a lot of maths involved and several times I resorted to pen and paper to work out a particularly tricky calculation, for example converting 2 dose potions into 3 dose potions and how to deal with the extra doses that were left over at the same time as making sure to take the correct number of empty vials. On sending this to code review, Mod Kieren found a few edge case bugs which were corrected, and a few more were founding in testing by Mod Wolf. Still, Im quite proud of the result as it is possibly the most technically complex piece I have completed in a very long time. - Mod Maz Withdraw X Bank Function and Bank Changes Withdraw X Function Added to Desktop Previously, we've made some changes to the bank interface on mobile devices, allowing players to set their chosen quantity as the left-click option for Withdrawing or Depositing items. In a recent poll, 89% of players voted for this change to be made to the desktop version of the game too. While adapting this update for use by desktop users, weve also made the game remember your option over logout, which it didn't do before. Right-Click Options Extended to the Deposit Box All items which have right-click uses within the bank, such as "Empty" for various bags, now also have these uses within deposit boxes. This change includes the following items: All Rune pouches Coal bag Gem bag Flamtaer bag Herb sack Seed box Enchanted gem Eternal gem Slayer ring Slayer ring (eternal) Additionally, you may now right-click to Fill your Rune essence pouches without closing the bank interface, provided you have essence in your inventory. Equally, you may Empty pouches this way if they contain essence. The Account Management tab found on mobile has been added to the desktop client. This allows easy access to useful account information such as remaining days of membership, number of unread inbox messages, the name changer, and useful links. The friends and ignore lists have been combined into one tab to make space for the new Account Management tab. To switch between the friends and ignore lists, click the small face icon in the top right of the friends/ignore list interface. Thermonuclear Smoke Devil Redesign The Thermonuclear smoke devil has been graphically reworked. The Pet smoke devil has been changed to match and given a transform option, allowing it to switch between the boss and regular Smoke devil models. The new boss version and pet with standard Smoke devils in the background. Bucket Packs In response to high demand, Bucket packs containing 100 noted Buckets each have been added to General Stores and Farming Shops. Mobile Changes The spacing between options has been increased on various menus and interfaces to make selection easier. There are many more menus that well look to update similarly, and you can expect to see more changes like this in future updates. The following have been updated for now: The Quest list. The world switcher. The music interface. Choice options that appear in the chatbox. Teleports from Player Owned Houses and certain jewellery. As the chat stones cannot be used when the chatbox is open, they are now covered to save space. 8. Log in News Home - News Home An Important Announcement September 20 2018 We confirm that a Member of The Old School Team was dismissed from employment at Jagex following gross misuse of moderator privileges. During our rigorous routine system checks, irregular activity was identified on small number of accounts, including the movement of wealth and items back into the live game. Following our investigation, we were able to resolve the issue before any significant impact was made to the wider game, or economy. We have also taken steps to return items and GP to any affected accounts. Whilst we generally do not return items or gold, we feel that given this unusual situation, we wanted to ensure no players lost out to the rogue actions of a member of staff. We are actively working with the Police regarding the incident, but given this an ongoing legal matter we are unable to provide further details. We pride ourselves on the passion and integrity of the JMods that work for Jagex and we hold them to the highest standards. However, we are not afraid to take tough action and make difficult decisions if someone cannot meet those standards. We will dust ourselves off, and move on. Old School is at its biggest and strongest since launch, but we still have much to do, not least a mobile launch which each day gets closer. As always, thank you for your support. 9. Log in News Home - News Home Deadman Experience Cap Increase and Quality of Life Changes September 20 2018 This week's update brings an increase to the experience cap for the Deadman Winter Season. We also see some Quality of Life changes such as make-X enchanting for Salve amulets and a right-click Pure essence claim option for Wizard Cromperty. Deadman Winter Season Weve had a large amount of feedback regarding the current XP Caps in the Deadman Season. With the introduction of the Ancient Warriors equipment, and more players than ever eager to head out and try their hand at player killing, its understandable why youd like to get your levels faster. In response to this, the daily XP Caps in the Deadman Season will be increased, starting from the daily reset at 12pm UTC (1am BST) on Friday 21st September. The caps will change from: 500k XP per day shared across Defence and Ranged, a cap of 750k XP in Magic or of 750k XP per day in Attack and Strength. To: 700k XP per day shared across Defence and Ranged, a cap of 1050k XP in Magic or a 1050k XP per day in Attack and Strength. As the season rolls on, potion prices get higher as less people train the skills required. As a result, certain potions are being added to the Bounty Hunter store: Super Attack - Cost: 1000 points Super Strength Cost 1000 points Ranging Potion Cost 6000 points Super Restore Cost 10000 points Saradomin Brew Cost 25000 points Prayer Restore Cost 3000 points Stamina Potion Cost 8000 points Tier 1 emblem drop rates from Wilderness Slayer have been doubled to account for the increase in BH shop usage. Quality of Life Changes Salve Amulet Enchanting Added to the Make-X System As the Salve amulet becomes increasingly useful and players collect them for quick-use and drop content such as the Theatre of Blood, we wanted to make the process of making them less tedious by adding them to the make-x system. Now, all Salve amulets in your inventory, up to the amount you choose, will be instantly enchanted. If you can only enchant one Salve amulet, the make-x interface will not appear and it will instantly be enchanted as before. Right-Click Option to Claim Pure Essence from Wizard Cromperty Wizard Cromperty now has a right-click option to claim your daily Pure essence after the completion of the Ardougne Medium, Hard, and Elite diaries. In Other News The Twitch Prime purple skin colour is now available to everyone. Bird nests will now appear over most logs. Dragon bones and hides are more likely to appear above less valuable drops such as food. The Fossil Island bank chest now has a 'Collect' option. Players are now unable to wield banner objects on PvP and Bounty hunter worlds as they were used to attempt to grief others. Anyone that has a banner equipped when going to either of these worlds will have it placed into their inventory or their bank if the inventory is full. Perdu will store one banner which can be reclaimed if the bank and inventory are full. It will drop to the floor if the inventory and bank are full and Perdu is already storing one. A missing piece of roof near the entrance of Motherlode Mine was fixed. If the player has enabled the ESC key for closing menus, this will now apply to the world map and the welcome screen where the message of the week appears. This same setting will allow players on mobile to press the back button for the same effect. The toggle is on the options side-panel, where the F-keys are controlled: Blocking was added to a piece of gemstone in the Kourend Catacombs. A stretching issue with the Ale of the Gods and Clue Hunter cloak was fixed. Players will no longer be teleported on top of rocks when teleporting to the Rune essence mine. The Bastion, Battlemage and Super combat potions will now show their ingredients rather than the finished potion on the Herblore skill guide, and ingredient lists that refer to the Antidote+, Antidote++ and weapon poison (++) potions will now use those names to refer to them. The Bank PIN will now be toggled to stay unlocked over logout by default for new players. If you are offline for under 5 minutes and log back in from the same place, for example when hopping worlds, you won't be prompted to enter your Bank PIN to access your bank when this is option is toggled on. Existing players wont be affected by this change - speak to a banker and ask to view your PIN settings if youd like to enable this option. Accounts with no display name set will now be able to sign in if they are still at the start of the tutorial, and will be prompted to set one in game. Previously, when players on a non-members world tried to interact with members content, the messages they were given tended to be inconsistent and unhelpful. New players would find themselves instructed to use a members server, without anything to explain what those are, where to find them and how to get membership. Weve replaced most of those generic messages with more informative and helpful prompts and an interface describing the benefits of membership. 12. Log in News Home - News Home Left Click Range Cooking, Slayer Helm Recolour and Player Survey September 13 2018 This week sees the release of left-click cooking on ranges, a Slayer helm recolour, mobile tweaks and various bug fixes. We're also running a player survey with prizes of Amazon vouchers and a map of Gielinor. Left-Click Range Cooking As discussed in the Revenant Cave Rewards: Revisited & Content Changes Poll, all cooking ranges now have a left-click cook option as well as the option to choose to cook any of the first 10 objects that can be cooked in your inventory via a make-x interface. It's not always easy to communicate the amount of work that goes into changes like this which can vary dramatically based on what has to be done. You can check out Mod Kieren's explanation of what was necessary to bring this change and some insight into how it works at the bottom of this news post. Slayer Helm Recolour Most of you will be familiar with the iconic Slayer helmet worn by players on task since 2014. If you haven't already, consider taking on the Nightmare Zone and gain enough points to upgrade yours to the imbued (i) version allowing it's bonuses to apply to your ranged and magic attacks too. The colour of the Slayer helm has been tweaked so the standard and imbued versions are visually distinct. Mobile Interface Changes Work continues on making the mobile experience as user friendly and intuitive as we possibly can. As such, the following changes have been made. The spaces between options in drop down menus have been increased to make them easier to select. You can see how this looks for the World Map drop down menu below as an example. Overlays are now less likely to overlap with the chatbox, minimap and other parts of the interface which are always visible. Many central interfaces such as the skill guides have had a semi transparent background until now. These have been made fully transparent. Additionally, the attack options menu now displays upwards rather than downwards. Deadman Autumn Finals The Deadman Autumn finals have been underway for five days and we're nearing it's conclusion. The finalists are currently battling it out and enjoying the incredibly strong PvP Weapons which will make for an exciting finale and could make the difference in players winning their share of the $32,000 prize money! Make sure to catch all the action on Twitch when the Permadeath stage kicks off on the 15th of September - you can set a reminder for the event here! If you haven't competed this time around, remember that the Winter Season begins with the end of the Permadeath stage. You can prepare by checking out the details of the Winter Season on this page. After receiving reports of some doors being able to be abused, spam-clicking of doors in the Barrows has been inhibited. Should there be more issues of places this occuring please submit bug reports ingame via the report button. Player Survey At Jagex, we are always looking to our players to help us guide the future of Old School RuneScape. To aid in this, we are running a survey to ask players what Old School means to you, and what other games and activities you spend their your time on. Those who complete the survey will be entered into a prize draw to win one of fifty $50 Amazon vouchers (or your stated country's equivalent currency). On top of this, five lucky participants will also receive a huge 60x40 cm (23 x15 ) print map of Gielinor! So, if you want to guide the future of Old School RuneScape and win prizes, be on the lookout for an email to the survey coming out this Friday, September 14th. The email you receive will address you by your display name and will contain a unique link to the survey. Mod Kieren On The Range Job This is one of those updates that from the outside looks as though itll be entirely straight forward but is far from it! It even convinced me, I took the job expecting it to take me inside a day, but it turned into much more than that (it took me about 5 days of solid work or so in the end). Why Mod Kieren? Why does it take so long to add left click cooking? Well, Im going to try to explain the infrastructure we used to have and the infrastructure we have now. Before this update, the only way to cook was to use your raw item on the range/fire. This is super useful for us, as it provides us information directly we know straight away exactly which item youd like to cook. Mostly that means we just need to ask you how many you want to make and proceed into the core cooking process. We then pass data into the cooking system relevant to the item youre trying to cook. In the process mentioned there, ~cooking_getquantity asks you how many youd like to make, and assuming you want to make at least 1, we pass data into the system these are all the things we need to know, such as what item it turns into when you succeed, when you fail, what messages to give, how much experience to give, what are the chances of success etc. Now the problem is when left clicking on the range, I dont know which item youre trying to cook. You could have 25 steel bars, a raw trout, a raw salmon and a raw lobster in your inventory. I need a way to know that firstly, the steel bars arent cookable, and put together a choice screen for you to choose from the items that are. That code above isnt very helpful for that, its all written out long hand inside the trigger for using an item on a range. To make matters worse, its written out in three different places! The trigger for using items on the Lumbridge Range, fires and then other ranges. They each offer slightly different chances of success, fires use different animations, and certain items can only be cooked on fires or ranges! Whilst the Lumbridge Range is known for supplying slightly decreased burn rates, it only applies to a small subset of all cookable items, and the Cooking Gauntlets are similar too, adding further complications. The ideal situation, would be a centralised piece of code which is used for fires and all ranges alike giving the appropriate restrictions and chances as above. There are still two types of interaction though following this updateleft click Cooking and using a raw item on the cooking device. In one situation, I know what raw item you want to cook, and in the other I need to compile a list of items you could cook from the items in your inventory. Writing data in two places leads to mistakes and extra work for adding future cookable items. This led to the tedious task of converting it all to use a data structure system. These are what we call structs, theyre simply an entity that stores data. There are two sets of structs: Theres a struct for the raw items, this contains information about the raw object, what it can turn into, level requirements to cook it, restrictions on cooking it on fires or ranges, text for certain messaging etc. Theres then a struct for the cooked items, this contains information about cooking that particular item, what are the chances of cooking it (on ranges, on fires, on the lumbridge range, and on cooking gauntlets potentially!). This should store all of the information we need to know about cooking that raw into that product it is a combination of those long hand written out sets of data you saw above from cooking on fires, lumbridge ranges and all other ranges. Now I can much more readily read this data in multiple places! When you use an item, I can verify its a cookable item by checking if it has one of these structs associated with it. When you use the new left click cook option, I can check your whole inventory for items that fit the bill too! Now the make-x system does only allow 10 options, so I have to limit it to the first 10 potential products I find in your inventory but hey, I think thats going to cover anyones culinary desires. In Other News A rendering issue with Ankou gloves was fixed. A missing flag in the Varrock museum was added. A chair from inside a wall in the Hosidius household was removed. A clipping issue with Chronicle books on females was improved. A door that was the wrong way around within the Stronghold of Security has been fixed. Players will no longer be able to tick-eat the Enchanted symbol from Mage Arena 2. The Dragonfire shield & ward special attack cool-down can no longer be skipped by re-logging. Work has been done to reduce the cancelling of animations during PvP combat, making it less likely to occur. Players may now drop light sources within caves lit with the "Fire of Eternal Light". Some inconsistencies with scrollable interfaces have been adjusted to make better use of the mouse wheel. Progress in A Tail of Two Cats should no longer abruptly delete Temple Trek followers. Players may now also climb over the rubble beside the Bone Guardian in Enakhra's Lament, providing the guardian has been slain. A broken chatbox in the dialogue of the High Priest of Sophanem, during Icthlarins Little Helper, has been removed. Ammonite Crabs in the Fossil Island Task only Wyvern Cave can now be attacked with magic spells as previously you could only melee or range them unless you had a wyvern task. 13. Log in News Home - News Home Poll Blog: Portal Nexus and More! September 11 2018 Poll Blog: Portal Nexus and More! As we draw ever closer to delivering the updates offered in our latest poll blog, we'd like to offer some new updates for your voting pleasure! We're aiming to have these poll questions ready in-game later this week, so if you have any feedback you'd like to provide then follow the links at the bottom of this post! Portal Nexus We've heard how many of you feel that the amount of real estate required to have a portal to each teleport location within your player-owned house is quite excessive, so we'd like to offer a popular community suggested alternative. The Portal Nexus is a large portal that would be built in a new POH room, fittingly named the "Nexus" room, at level 72 Construction. The Nexus room requires 72 Construction and 200k gold to build. Once done, you'll then be able to build the Portal Nexus, which is placed in the centre of the room. Activating the Portal Nexus will open an interface with all the available teleports - these can either be clicked on or you can use the keybind shortcuts we'll include for ease of use. For a teleport to become available, you'll need to first unlock the ability to use it. Much like how the portals in the Portal Chamber work, you'll need the runes for that particular teleport spell in order to unlock the teleport. The Portal Nexus requires 1000 times the required runes for the particular teleport spell you wish to unlock. This unlock is permanent. You'll be able to set a default left-click teleport location on the Portal Nexus via a right-click configure option. If this is done, the interface with all the available teleports would be available via a separate right-click option. Should you wish for the left-click to open the menu, you can leave this unconfigured or reconfigure it via a right-click option. The Nexus Portal has three tiers, allowing you to upgrade it similar to how the jewellery boxes work to unlock additional teleport slots. Tier 1 Construction level: 72 Teleport locations limit: 4 Materials required: 4 x Marble blocks Experience given for constructing: 2000 Construction XP Tier 2 Construction level: 82 Teleport locations limit: 8 Materials required: 4 x Marble blocks & 2 x Gold leaf Experience given for constructing: 2160 Construction XP Tier 3 Construction level: 92 Teleport locations limit: Infinite Materials required: 2 x Magic stones & 1 x Gold leaf Experience given for constructing: 2080 Construction XP Poll Question #1Should the Portal Nexus, as described in the Dev Blog, be added to the game? The Portal Nexus is built in the Nexus room of a player-owned house which requires level 72 Construction. At 72 Construction the Portal Nexus is limited to 4 teleport locations, at 82 it can be upgraded to 8 teleport locations and at 92 it can be upgraded to remove the limit entirely. Additional Poll Questions Poll Question #2If the Portal Nexus is added to the game, should there be a hotspot that allows you to mount a Xeric's Talisman? This would require level 72 Construction, 1 Mahogany plank, 1 Gold leaf, 1 Xeric's talisman (inert) and 5000 Lizardman Fangs for unlimited Xeric's Talisman teleports. Constructing this would grant 500 Construction XP. Poll Question #3If the Portal Nexus is added to the game, should there be a hotspot that allows you to mount a Digsite pendant? This would require level 82 Construction, 1 Mahogany plank, 1 Gold leaf, 1 Curator's medallion (which can be obtained by trading the Varrock Curator 250 rubies), 100 cosmic runes and 500 fire runes for unlimited Digsite pendant teleports. Constructing this would grant 800 Construction XP. Poll Question #4Should it be possible to "Fill" and "Empty" Runecrafting pouches from essence already in your inventory only whilst using the bank by right-clicking them? Poll Question #5Should a right-click option be added to Wizard Cromperty allowing you to quickly claim the daily Pure essence you receive from him after completion of either the Medium, Hard or Elite Ardougne Achievement Diary? Poll Question #6Should it be possible to toggle between the Al Kharid Palace and Shantay pass when teleporting to Al Kharid with an Amulet of glory after completing the Hard Desert Achievement Diary by talking to Shantay? Poll Question #7Should the "ow" message when failing an Urn in Pyramid Plunder be removed? Poll Question #8Should items that have options available whilst the bank interface is open have the same options available whilst the deposit box interface is open too? Poll Question #9Should Bucket packs, which contain 100 noted Buckets, be added to General stores and Farming shops? Poll Question #10Should the Kalphite Queen head be guaranteed to drop after 256 kills, similar to Vorkath's head? Those already above 256 kills would be guaranteed to receive the Kalphite Queen head on their next kill. Poll Question #11Should the way worlds are displayed in the World Switcher interface be changed so they are consistent with the rest of the game? For example, World 42 would show as World 342 as it does in the main "Select a world" interface. Poll Question #12Should a message be added to the chatbox when you log in telling you that you have items waiting in your Grand Exchange collection box, should you have anything waiting there? This would be toggleable at the Grand Exchange. Poll Question #13Should the Thermonuclear smoke devil be given an altered model, rather than the current Smoke devil model being used? 14. Log in News Home - News Home Making Friends With My Arm, Deadman Autumn Finals and Full Mobile Launch September 06 2018 This week sees the release of Mod Ashs troll quest sequel, Making Friends with My Arm as well as Deadman changes for the Autumn finals and Winter Season, and the official release date of OSRS Mobile. Making Friends with My Arm Today's new quest revisits some older lore. My Arm, the troll from My Arm's Big Adventure, must embark on another journey of discovery. This time you'll be escorting him to Weiss, a newly discovered troll town in the far north of the world, so he can share his wisdom *cough* with the inhabitants, in exchange for learning about their inventions. Life's journeys can take us to some strange places, but My Arm is about to face the greatest adventure of all - true love. Plus they'd like him to kill the Wise Old Man of Draynor Village, which doesn't sound like a clever move. Can you help My Arm get a grip on the situation and woo the fair Snowflake over the objections of her father, Mother? Or will My Arm be left to a loveless life of loneliness? You can start Making Friends with My Arm by returning to Burntmeat in the Troll Stronghold kitchen. This quest has the following requirements: My Arm's Big Adventure Swan Song Cold War Romeo & Juliet Level 68 Agility Level 72 Mining Level 35 Construction Level 66 Firemaking The trolls won't let you start the quest unless your unboosted Firemaking level is adequate. The other three stat requirements are checked only where they're needed in the quest and accept stat-boosts. If you can support My Arm to a happy ending, the trolls will build you another disease-free herb patch, as well as teaching you advanced Firemaking techniques invented by the Weiss trolls, letting you create permanent fires in designated fire pit sites across RuneScape. Fire of Eternal Light - perpetual light shines to dispel the darkness of the Mole Hole, Lumbridge Swamp cave and Mos Le'Harmless horror cave. Fire of Nourishment - unlocks a new disease-free herb patch. Fire of Unseasonal Warmth - renders you permanently immune to the cold weather effects around the God Wars Dungeon. Also requires level 60 Construction. Fire of Dehumidification - prevents swamp damage and ghast attacks in the main areas of Mort Myre. Also requires level 50 Construction. Glowing Basalt teleport tablets can teleport you back to Weiss, and also to the Troll Stronghold for easier access to My Arm's original herb patches. These fires will require different salts in order to be created. The salts can be mined from the mine underneath Weiss that can be accessed after completing the quest. Level 72 Mining is required to mine the salts with a higher mining level providing more salt on a successful action. You can build a Troll Stronghold portal in your player-owned house portal room too. Deadman Autumn Finals & Winter Season The Deadman Autumn Finals kick off at 3pm BST on Saturday 8th September. The top players from the Autumn Season will spend the week preparing for the frenzy of the Permadeath stage, where theyll be fighting for a share of the $32,000 prizemoney. The Autumn Finals culminates on 15th September. Well be broadcasting the action live from ESL in Leicester, set a reminder to watch the event on twitch or join us in person there are just a handful of tickets left! The Winter Season begins with the end of the Permadeath stage, and there are some wildly exciting changes in store. Learn about the Winter Season here. One notable change is the addition of the PvP sets. For the first time in Old School RuneScape youll be able to see Vestas, Statius, Morrigans, and Zuriels! A big thanks to Mod West for his faithful recreation of the iconic sets. #OSRS Mobile: Coming October 30th! Yesterday we announced the official release date for the full launch of Old School Mobile! 15. Log in News Home - News Home Old School Mobile: Release Date Announcement September 05 2018 We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Old School RuneScape on mobile will be released on both iOS and Android on October 30th! For the few of you who don't know by now (have you been living under a rock?), the mobile version of Old School RuneScape offers full cross-platform play with PC, meaning when you're out and about you can just pick up from where you left off at home. The release has been made possible not only by the tireless work of the various development teams here at Jagex, but also the tremendous success of the various beta tests we've released. We'd like to send our thanks to all of you who participated in our initial Closed Beta tests, the Android Members Beta, the Canada and Nordics soft launch, and our most recent iOS Closed Beta test. The road leading to this point has been arduous, and we know the wait has been long indeed since Old School RuneScape was first shown on mobile at RuneFest 2017. But the time taken has ensured that the Old School mobile experience will feel every bit as good as it does on PC, and we're sure you'll be delighted at how we've managed to translate the magic of Old School onto your favourite device. Play as soon as it's released, pre-order on the App Store and pre-register on Google Play now! (If you click here on a desktop, you'll be taken to the Mobile page of the website). In order for us to move Old School RuneScape into the pre-order and pre-register stage, were required to remove the beta build from the Google Play store. This means that those of you without the Members beta installed will not be able to access the app until it's full release on October 30th. If you have access via the Members beta, the iOS closed beta, or you're located in an area in which we've soft launched (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden), then you'll be able to continue playing right up until the full release. To confirm the above details: If you have an Android device and you already have the Members beta installed then you will be able to continue playing. If you have an Android device, and you're located in an area in which we've soft launched (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden), then you can simply find the app on the Play store. If you have an Android device, and you're not participating in the Members beta or you're not located in an area in which we've soft launched (Canada, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden), then you won't be able to access Old School RuneScape until October 30th. Pre-register now! If you have an iOS device and you're taking part in the closed beta then you will be able to continue playing. If you have an iOS device and you aren't in the closed beta then you won't be able to access Old School RuneScape until October 30th. Pre-order now! We have opted to exclude certain countries from the pre-order and pre-register stage. We will be closely monitoring player interest and further countries may be excluded where necessary. This is mainly due to our concerns over the experience players will have due to the lack of local worlds in those regions. We'll continue to update you about further mobile developments as we near the full release. Note: players with iOS devices will need to be running iOS 10 or later, whilst players with Android devices will need Lollipop (Android 5.0) or later. Hyped?! Join the conversation and share your excitement on social using #OSRSMobile. 16. Log in News Home - News Home Stronghold of Security, iOS Closed Beta Launch and Ghostly Robes August 30 2018 This week's update brings the results of the Stronghold of Security competition, launch of the iOS Closed Beta and changes to the Ghostly robes. We're also running a master clue reward design competition. Stronghold of Security Changes As part of account security week, Player Support held a competition asking players to write updated questions for the Stronghold of Security. The best entries of the competition have been chosen and the Stronghold has been updated to include the new questions. This update should help new players secure their accounts and avoid notable current security risks. A sign can be found on the final level of the Stronghold near the Cradle of life thanking the players whose questions were selected. Ghostly Robes You are now able to re-obtain all pieces of the Ghostly robe set from any of the ghosts after Curse of the Empty Lord is completed. As a result, any number of each piece can be reclaimed. Talking to any of the ghosts will bring up the interface below allowing you to choose how many of each piece you'd like to receive. OSRS Mobile iOS Closed Beta The iOS closed beta test will go live later this after noon at approximately 2pm BST. For those that have been invited, you should have already received your message from us via email and the Message Center detailing your invitation (if you havent heard from us by now then unfortunately you havent been invited to this test). To mark the iOS closed beta test going live you will receive an email directly from Apples TestFlight service. This will be sent to the same email you provided when signing up for the beta. Currently, there is no planned end date for the iOS beta. Thank you to everyone that has registered their interest and we look forward to hearing your feedback for those invited. Optimisation Changes The size of the sidestones has been increased slightly to match the size of the interface and improve accessibility. Chat options have been optimised to be a more similar size, overall this has increased the size of most options. Master Clue Scroll Reward Competition As mentioned in last week's Q&A stream, we're hosting a reward design competition. The design is for a cosmetic item to be rewarded to players upon completion of 100 master level clue scrolls. This can be an item for any equipment slot or a whole outfit - whichever you prefer! Email your entries to our community mailbox; [email protected] attached as a JPEG file, including your RuneScape display name (the name of your character in-game) and using the subject line Master Clue Reward Competition. Be aware that if you include any icons or symbols in the design to keep them simple! Also bear in mind that items or outfits may appear darker in game. We'll accept entries until September 10th and then choose three designs to be polled. The winning design will be chosen by the community based on which one receives the most votes. The winning entry will be put into game with further possible prizes to be confirmed. Make sure to read our competition terms and conditions before entering and good luck! In Other News The Scythe of Vitur can no longer be taken to Entrana. The amulet of Avarice will no longer maintain the skull timer in Free to Play worlds as it is a members item All fishing spots beside the Lumbridge fishing tutor can now be reached. You can no longer attempt to ignite jogre bones on the ground on F2P worlds. The clue requiring the lumberjack outfit is no longer available in Deadman Mode because the outfit is not obtainable. Thammaron's Sceptre has had its defend animation changed to make it interfere less with walking and other combat animations. You will now need to have your PIN unlocked before you can withdraw cash from the servant's money bag in your player-owned house. Players will no longer be able to use their special attacks on their opponents whilst in single-way combat areas if their opponent has been hit by a special attack from a different player within the last 10.8 seconds as a way to prevent teams of players from dumping special attacks on a single player as this is unfair. Tomorrow an opinion poll on Holiday Events will go live - this is just to gain information and anything mentioned will not be changed unless it passes a further in game poll with the usual 75% pass rate. 18. Log in News Home - News Home Game Update: Friday 24th August August 24 2018 Game Update: Friday 24th August With yesterday's usual weekly game update, we encountered an issue that was causing some players to experience the game client crashing, alongside the stones in resizable mode not showing correctly. We deployed a second game update to resolve the issue with the game client crashing shortly after the first update at 11:30 GMT went live. We then deployed a hotfix to temporarily prevent the issue with the stones in resizable from further impacting players. The hotfix we deployed disabled the "Side-panels" option in Advanced options until a further update could be deployed. Today we'd like to do another game update that will resolve the issue with the stones in resizable and remove the hotfix we temporarily applied. There will be a 1-hour in-game countdown timer to notify you of when this update will go live. Thank you for your patience whilst we resolved these issues and we apologise for any inconvenience caused. 19. Log in News Home - News Home Bush Yield Improvements, Nordic Soft Launch and Mobile Changes August 23 2018 This week's game update brings the Android Nordic Soft Launch, improvements to the yield for bushes and other crops and an Account Management interface for mobile. Bushes, Limpwurt roots and Nightshade The yields for bushes, Cave nightshade and Limpwurt roots have been increased. Yield for each of these crops will have a guaranteed minimum harvest equal to the yield before this update. The additional harvest will be scaled according to your farming level. The appearance of the fully grown crops no longer depletes based on how many you yield and will instead appear as only a full crop or a fully harvested crop. This is in line with other farming patches that work in a similar way. The following crops have been affected: Cadavaberry Cave nightshade Dwellberry Jangerberry Limpwurt root Poison ivy Redberry To balance the influx of Limpwurt roots, the following monsters now drop a Limpwurt seed rather than roots: Chaos Druid Warriors, Kurasks, Nechryael and Deviant Spectres. Each of these will now drop one seed at a time except Deviant Spectres which will drop a minimum of three seeds, up to eleven. Limpwurt and Belladonna will now give a minimum of three in the harvest, however the yield may be higher depending on your farming level. Android Soft Launch: Nordics Now Live! Earlier this week, we talked about expanding the Android Soft Launch to the Nordics in preparation for the full release of Old School RuneScape on Android and iOS. Today's game update brings Old School RuneScape on Android to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The soft launch allows both members and free to play users access to the app, whilst giving us the chance to optimise the player experience in advance of global launch later this year. As with the Canada soft launch, players will be able to purchase bonds and membership via the app, rather than having to go through the website. The development of Old School RuneScape on Android has been going from strength to strength, and this expansion to the soft launch highlights just how close we're getting to a full release of Old School RuneScape on mobile. We hope to have more information to share with you regarding the progress of the upcoming iOS Closed Beta test and the full release of mobile soon, but until then, we'd like to highlight some new mobile changes we've made as detailed below... Mobile: Account Management As discussed in the Canada Soft Launch newspost, an Account Management tab has been released for mobile. The toggleable orb that opens the store and shows payment options for members still exists but is toggled off by default for members. The orb will still always show for F2P players. We welcome feedback on both the the account management tab and the orb - let us know which you prefer! The Billing section displays your amount of remaining membership and has buttons taking you to the store and bond pouch. The text turns red when your membership is close to or has run out. The Inbox section links to your player inbox and displays the number of unread messages. The Name section shows your current character name and links to the name changer. The Useful Links section takes you to the Old School website and Customer Support page. The link to Customer Support on the logout panel has been removed as it now exists here. The friends and ignore lists have been combined into one panel with the Account Management icon filling the saved space. You can now switch freely between the friends and ignore lists using the button in the top right of the panel. Overlays The fog system in Deadman mode has been fixed and now displays correctly on mobile. The smoke overlay when entering the Smoke tunnels in the desert or south of Castle Wars will now display correctly on mobile. In Other News The PvP World Rota is switching to Period A. The effects of Teleblock now expire on log out. Players are now asked to confirm they wish to log out during a raid. A grammatical error in the Diary (Witch's House) has been fixed. Malignius Mortifer now uses the accusative rather than nominative case of a Latin word. A double spacing issue in the dialogue with Vanstrom Klause during In Search of the Myreque has been adjusted. The Avernic defender's death protection has been adjusted to protect over more items. It protects over fewer than it originally did in May. Dragging an item from the inventory to a blank bank tab will no longer move the item in the inventory and cause a loss of the bank interaction. To prevent them being used to scam/lure other players, closing certain books will now end the book reading animation. In addition, some spells and items will no longer cause a stall in animations when used. Discuss this update on our official forums, the community-led 2007Scape Reddit, or the community-led OSRS Discord in the #gameupdate channel. The Finals will run until Saturday 15th September, culminating in the Permadeath Stage beginning at 8pm BST. We'll be live from Saturday 8th September, on twitch.tv/oldschoolrs, make sure you tune in to see who will take home the $20,000 grand-prize! Now that the logistical information has been shared, it's fitting to inform you all of what the Autumn Finals has in store for you. The rest of this page will be split into displaying the core content mechanics, and then finally the way the Permadeath (the final hours of the Finals) will be played. Changelog The purpose of this section is to detail any major changes from the previous tournament, the Deadman Winter Finals. All changes here are also listed in the sections below. Some new changes for the Finals include: NPCs killed in the Wilderness have a chance to roll on a new global Wilderness loot table. The chance is relative to the combat level of the NPC, meaning the higher the combat level the greater the chance of hitting the global Wilderness loot table. If you're fortunate enough to hit this loot table you'll be rewarded with some of the most powerful weapons to be found in-game, known as the Ancient Warriors equipment. The Ancient Warriors equipment are tradeable and do not degrade. The following items will be included for the entire Autumn Finals: Vesta's longsword requires 78 Attack to equip and is one-handed. Vesta's spear requires 78 Attack to equip and is two-handed. Statius's warhammer requires 78 Attack to equip and is one-handed. Morrigan's throwing axes require 78 Ranged to equip and are one-handed. The amunition saving effect of Ava's devices do not work with the axes. Morrigan's javelins require 78 Ranged to equip and are one-handed. The amunition saving effect of Ava's devices do not work with the javelins. Zureil's staff requires 78 Magic to equip and is one-handed. Verac's flail is no longer a possible reward from the Barrows chest. The size of the Quarter Final and Semi Final arenas used in the 1v1 stage of the Permadeath stage has been increased to match that of the Final arena. The requirement for completion of Hand in the Sand to access The Magic Guild Store has been removed. Starter kits will now be cleaned up (alongside other food items) when in the 1v1 stage of the Permadeath stage. The requirement for having started Dragon Slayer to equip or use anything-Antifire has been removed. We've made the following drops four times more common: Abyssal whip, Leaf-bladed battleaxe, Dragon plateskirt, Dragon platelegs, Draconic visage, Skeletal visage, Wyvern visage, Imbued heart, all Malediction shards, all Odium shards, all Godsword blades, all unique Godsword hilts, Zamorak spear, Staff of the dead, Armadyl helmet, Armadyl chestplate, Armadyl chainskirt, Armadyl crossbow, Saradomin sword, Saradomin light, Bandos chestplate, Bandos tassets, and Bandos boots. We've also improved the droprate of all defenders. The drop rate of each defender, including the Dragon defender, is now 1 in 25. The Dorgeshuun crossbow and Bone bolts will be added to the Varrock Archery Store, Catherby Fletching Store and the Ranging guilds bow and arrow store. The following quests will be automatically completed: Animal Magnetism, Death Plateau, Dragon Slayer, Heroes' Quest, The Lost Tribe, Monkey Madness, and the first stage of Recipe for Disaster. The following quests which are a requirement for these quests will also be completed: Cook's Assistant, Priest in Peril, Ernest the Chicken, Restless Ghost, Animal Magnetism, The Grand Tree, Tree Gnome Village, Monkey Madness, Dragon Slayer, Goblin Diplomacy, Rune Mysteries, Lost Tribe, Death Plateau, Shield of Arrav, Lost City, Merlin's Crystal, Druidic Ritual (and level 3 herblore), Heroes' Quest, Recipe for Disaster: Another Cook's Quest (Part 1 which unlocks the chest). It will not be possible to gain the XP you would normally receive for completing these quests. The global loot table, which yields: food, runes, potions, and herblore supplies, has been rebalanced. There will now be a higher chance of receiving food, meaning that there'll be a lower chance of receiving other supplies. Teleblock will now last for 150 seconds, or for 75 seconds whilst Protect from Magic is active. Town Protection High level guards patrol major towns across the map keeping them safe. If they spot a player with a PK skull they will attack them. The map below is an approximation of the map changes within Deadman Mode. The areas highlighted in green on the map to left are the safe areas. The areas highlighted in red on the map to left are multi-way combat areas. XP Gain There is no cap on XP gain. The XP rate when training all skills (combat & non-combat) in a guarded area is 10x. The XP rate when training combat skills in an unguarded (dangerous) area is 15x. The XP rate when training non-combat skills in an unguarded (dangerous) area is 10x. There is a 50x rebuild rate on XP in stats previously lost on death. PK Skulls The standard skull timer for attacking a player is 15 minutes. If you're already skulled, and you attack another player, the timer will be extended by 2 minutes up to the regular 15 minute timer There is a skull penalty for all players attacking a skulled player. The skull penalty will last for 5 minutes. If you previously had a skull with less than 5 minutes remaining it will revert to 5 minutes. If you previously had a skull with longer than 5 minutes remaining it will remain unchanged. There is a 1 minute grace period for reasonable kills. This grace period will be a temporary status of immunity from the attacks of other players. A reasonable kill can be defined as killing a player within 30 combat levels of yourself. If killing a combat level higher than yourself you will always receive this grace period of immunity (e.g. a level 90 killing a level 126 will receive the grace period). If you die or attack another player within this minute then you will lose the remaining grace period. The grace period will be lost upon logging out. Items & XP Lost On Death Unskulled players protect all XP lost on death. Skulled players who are killed by another player will lose XP dependent on the combat level of the player killing you. You can insure your HP level by talking to Gelin, found in Lumbridge graveyard. You'll permanently be able to protect your HP at level 25, level 50, and level 75. You can protect 5 skills in total: 2 combat skills and 3 non-combat skills. You can do this by opening the items lost on death interface from the equipment tab. If you die to another player you will lose the 10 most valuable stacks of items from your bank, along with all items you have equipped or in your inventory. For items lost on death, you will only lose 80% of an item's stack. This applies only to stacks of 5 or more. For example: if you had 4 Abyssal whips, you'd lose them all. If you had 5 Abyssal whips, you'd lose only 4 of them. Bank Raiding & The Safe Deposit Box If you manage to kill a player in Deadman mode you will receive a key drop. This key will give you access to chests found within safe arenas that, when opened, will allow you to take the 10 most valuable stacks of items from the bank of the player you killed. You are able to protect up to 10 of your items by talking to Financial Wizards found within banks in safe zones. When you give him 10 items they are securely stored within a Safe Deposit Box. When killed you will not lose these items. You can only place single items within the Safe Deposit Box, and not stacks of items (for example, 10 Rune arrows will count as 10 items). Deadman Drops & Resources NPCs killed in the Wilderness have a chance to roll on a new global Wilderness loot table. The chance is relative to the combat level of the NPC, the higher the combat level the greater the chance of reaching the global Wilderness loot table. The items on the global Wilderness loot table are as follows: Morrigan's throwing axe, Morrigan's javelin, Zuriel's staff, Statius's warhammer, Vesta's longsword, and Vesta's spear. The following drops are more common: Abyssal whip, Leaf-bladed battleaxe, Dragon plateskirt, Dragon platelegs, Dragon defender, Draconic visage, Imbued heart, all Malediction shards, all Odium shards, all Godsword blades, all unique Godsword hilts, Zamorak spear, Staff of the dead, Armadyl helmet, Armadyl chestplate, Armadyl chainskirt, Armadyl crossbow, Saradomin sword, Saradomin light, Bandos chestplate, Bandos tassets, and Bandos boots. Every NPC in-game will have a chance at landing on an additional global Deadman loot table that contains highly sought-after supplies. The chance is determined by the combat level of the NPC. Bosses will have an increased chance of hitting this table and Superior Slayer Creatures will have a guaranteed chance. In Barrows there is also a chance to obtain potions and potion ingredients. For potions, there is a 1/2 chance of gaining a stack of 3 (4)-dose potions when you roll on the Barrows armour table. You will receive either Saradomin brews, Super restores, Ranging potions, or Super combat potions. There is a small chance of obtaining potion ingredients on the normal Barrows table. Note, due to limitations of the Barrows interface it's possible that any items gained may instead appear in your inventory or on the floor. It is possible to receive the following: Crushed nests, Red spiders' eggs, Wine of Zamorak, Limpwurt roots, White berries, or Grimy torstol. In addition to the normal loot offered by killing them, Callisto, Venenatis, Vet'ion and the Chaos Elemental also have a 1 in 3 chance of dropping a single 4-dose Saradomin brew. In addition to the normal loot offered by killing them, Scorpia, Crazy Archaeologist and the Chaos Fanatic also have a 1 in 5 chance of dropping a single 4-dose Saradomin brew. Dragons now drop double the amount of bones. Tuna, Lobster, Swordfish, Shark, Karambwan, Dark crab, and Anglerfish fishing spots will yield 3x the amount of fish resources. All random unnoted herb drops from NPCs are now doubled. The Giant mole will now drop double the amount of Claws and Hides. The Tome of Fire droprate has been increased by x10. Burnt page drops will have double the number of pages. Other Misc. Changes The following quests will be automatically completed: Animal Magnetism, Death Plateau, Dragon Slayer, Heroes' Quest, The Lost Tribe, Monkey Madness, and the first stage of Recipe for Disaster. Teleblock will now last for 150 seconds, or for 75 seconds with Protect from Magic active. Players will have the ability to lock (and unlock) XP gain. This is toggled by talking to Nigel in Lumbridge. All Zeah House favour is set to 100%. The Architectural Alliance miniquest is also completed, meaning favour is locked. Every player will have the Bigger and Badder Slayer perk unlocked from the very start. Pyramid tops, found atop the Agility Pyramid, will turn to cash upon death. Starter packs will be available, each reclaimable once per day. They cannot be used in PvP. They are not tradeable, except where specified. The Protect from Magic protection prayer does not halve the duration of the Bind, Snare, and Entangle spells. Dying with, or dropping, a stack of Chinchompas will cause it to appear on the ground, visible to all players. All rune and arrow shops restock at a much faster rate. Fletching & Crafting supply stores will also restock at a faster rate. Lower tier equipment will restock faster than higher tier equipment, for example: an air rune will restock faster than a death rune. Changes remain in place to prevent door spamming. We received reports that specific areas were still troubled by issues of door spamming. POH pools are unavailable for 3 minutes after combat. A safety deposit box can be found in both banks within the Grand Tree. Turael will not assign Kalphite tasks. Restricted Content Pickpocketing in safe zones will yield no loot. Raids, Zulrah, the Revenant Caves, the new Wilderness Prayer altar, and Lava dragons are inaccessible for the entire week of the Finals. The following mini-games are disabled: Duel Arena, Castle Wars, Trouble Brewing, Fight Pits, Rat Pits, Pest Control, and Last man Standing. The nature rune chest in East Ardougne is inaccessible. Count Check will not be able to teleport players to the Stronghold of Security. Permadeath Stage Supply chests: The chests will appear each time the fog advances. We will announce the location of these chests with a message within your chatbox. We intend for these chests to encourage fights throughout the entire duration of the Permadeath stage, and also to offer a modest advantage for those courageous enough to attempt to loot them. Contained within each chest will be one of the following: Karil's top & Ahrim's top / Karil's skirt & Ahrim's skirt / Seers ring (i) & Archers ring (i) / Amulet of fury & Infernal cape / a charged Dragonfire shield / Verac's skirt & Abyssal whip. The PK Skulls on the map denote the location of the final areas (specified in text below this image), and the Supply chest icons denote the location of... you guessed it, the Supply chests. Final areas: We will evenly split players between the two final areas: the area north of Falador, and the Demonic Ruins in the Wilderness. Players will be assigned a final area location randomly once the Permadeath stage begins, with the fog being specific to each player. The last surviving 64 players in each final area (128 players in total) will be transported to the final arenas, which are detailed below. The aim of this is to split up large groups of players and to promote a more varied viewing experience with two groups of players having to adapt to different tactics depending on their designated final area. Final 1v1 Stage: The remaining 128 survivors will be teleported to an area containing 64 individual Arenas. Players will be teleported to a random arena regardless of level, location, gear etc. for a set of 7 brackets of 1v1 fights. Fog within the arena:All rounds up to (but not including) the Semi-Final stage (four players remaining) are given 5 minutes to fulfil their 1v1 fight, after the 5 minutes are up a damaging fog will fill the arena hitting each individual for 2 damage. For the Semi-Final and the Final, this arena fog is manually activated. Once activated, players will receive a 30 second warning, and then it will hit each individual for 2 damage. The structure is as follows: Bracket 1: 128 players | 64 Arenas Bracket 2: 64 players | 32 Arenas Bracket 3: 32 players | 16 Arenas Bracket 4: 16 players | 8 Arenas Bracket 5: 8 players | Quarter-final Bracket 6: 4 players | Semi-final Bracket 7: 2 players | Final Players will be teleported with the gear, stats, and supplies that they left the mainland with. Once teleported, to the arena they will have the opportunity to access their bank chest. Players will be able to access their bank chest for 10 minutes, and this is the only opportunity they'll have to bank throughout the arena section. This bank chest also carries the option to change your spellbook. Items that are manually dropped by players cannot be picked up or traded whilst they are in these Arenas. Healing supplies will not be dropped on death. When one player remains in an Arena they will automatically be teleported to the next Arena. They will have a short period of time in which to loot from their opponent. Players who are successful at progressing beyond the first Arena will have their inventory wiped of supplies (food and potions) and for each fight thereafter we'll restore all health/stats/special attack, as well as resupplying inventories. The supplies will consist of the following, also note that if your inventory is full then any excess supplies will appear on the floor: 1x Saradomin brew (4) 2x Super restore (4) 1x Super combat (2) 1x Ranging potion (2) 13x Shark 2x Karambwan Prize Money First place will receive $20,000 Second place will receive $10,000 Third and Fourth place will each receive $1,000 The remaining 12 players who make up the final 16 will receive the prize of 12 Months Membership. Contingency Planning In response to the issue which caused approximately 160 players to experience a simultaneous logout, we announced that there'd be a clear player-facing contingency plan in place ahead of the beginning of the Finals. We have made a number of changes to the mechanics of the Permadeath stage which have been designed to ensure that we're able to take any action that we deem necessary. Your Responsibility Protecting your IP address is entirely your responsibility. Jagex is not responsible for your IP address becoming compromised, and your connection being targeted by others. You should have a back-up connection available. An easy back-up connection can be in place by using the mobile data on your mobile device, and tethering your PC to that mobile connection. This back-up is a viable solution to not only attacks against your IP, but also against other connectivity issues. If you suspect that your IP address has become compromised, it's recommended that you contact your ISP. The majority of ISPs will change your IP address at your request. Find a customer service or technical support contact at your ISP and ask for a new IP address. If, for some reason, they will not help you change your IP address, you can attempt to force an IP change by unplugging every PC, router, modem, or other network hardware and computer from the internet for a period of 24 hours. If all of this advice doesn't yield any results then we'd recommend playing for the entirety of the Finals using your back-up connection (and sourcing a secondary back-up connection). Our Changes In response to the issue which caused approximately 160 players to experience a simultaneous logout, we have made a number of changes to the mechanics of the Permadeath stage. It is now possible for us to pause the Permadeath progression by stopping movement of the deadly fog and disabling PvP until we decide to resume play. This applies to the deadly fog phase of the Permadeath stage. It is now possible for a player, who has not died, to log back in up to 90 seconds after logging out. There is a hard cap on the number of times a player can log back in again, so it cannot be abused by just logging out and back in again multiple times. This cap can be toggled off, but will only be done so at our discretion and cannot be done on an individual basis. It is now possible for us to effectively pause the 1v1 stage by stopping the appearance of the deadly fog and disabling PvP until we decide to resume play. Any pausing of the 1v1 stage will pause combat in all 1v1 fights, and so will be used only at our discretion. The banking phase of the 1v1 stage has now been increased to 10 minutes (from 5 minutes). This should be enough time to ensure you're playing with a stable connection and you have a back-up connection to hand. What We Will Do The changes in the section above are to help us enact the steps detailed in this contingency plan, should the situation arise. During the deadly fog phase of the Permadeath stage, should any players experience connectivity issues which are local to them (only affecting them), then we will take no action. The ability to log back in should alleviate any need for our intervention. During the deadly fog phase of the Permadeath stage, should we encounter any disruption which affects a significant amount of users and which cannot be resolved by players simply logging back in then we will pause the Permadeath progression. This will only be done at our discretion, and only when we are confident that doing so won't be detrimental to the outcome of the Finals. During the Permadeath stage, should any connectivity issues arise which persistently cause multiple players to log out repeatedly, then we will remove the log in/log out cap (detailed above in Our Changes). This will only be done at our discretion, and only when we are confident that doing so won't be detrimental to the outcome of the Finals. We will re-add the log in/log out cap when comfortable with doing so. During the 1v1 stage, should a player experience connectivity issues and log out before a fight begins, then that player has only until the fight begins to log back in. During the 1v1 stage, should credible evidence emerge to suggest that an account is maliciously targeting other players, then we will take action against them. We will not be able to return a player to life should they die at any point during the Permadeath stage. We will not, at any point or under any circumstance, restart the event of the Finals. We will endeavour to announce the results of the Finals on the night of the event (June 30th), but should more investigation be required, then the results will be announced only after the Old School team has had time to meet and review all evidence available to us. Android Soft Launch: Nordics Preparation for the full release of Old School RuneScape on mobile devices is really hotting up. One of the few remaining steps to complete before the full release of Old School RuneScape on Android and iOS is to expand the soft launch. Earlier in the month we announced the soft launch of the Old School RuneScape mobile client in Canada. The development of Old School RuneScape on Android has been going from strength to strength, and so we're delighted to announce that as of Thursday 23rd August, the soft launch of Old School RuneScape will expand to Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden. The soft launch of mobile in Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden allows both members and free to play users access to the app, whilst giving us the chance to experience another country limited launch to both sets of players in a more controlled manner as we optimise the player experience in advance of global launch later this year. As with the Canada soft launch, players will be able to purchase bonds and membership via the app, rather than having to go through the website. iOS Closed Test After thousands of you registering your interest over the weekend, we've now closed sign-ups for the upcoming closed iOS test for Old School RuneScape. Phantom strike. 50% Special Attack consumption. Versus NPCs: no effect. 25. Log in News Home - News Home Duel Arena Changes and iOS Beta News mod_gambit August 16 2018 This week sees the release of changes to the Duel Arena, news on the iOS beta and mobile changes. Duel Arena Changes Back in June we announced content changes we'd be making to the Duel Arena. To tackle odds staking (and consequently Real World Trading) at the Duel Arena, we have made the following changes. Players can no longer stake items; meaning only Coins and Platinum tokens can be used. Winnings (the combined total of both players' stakes) will also be taxed by a percentage depending on the size of the stake. The current stake size limit (a combined total of 2147m gp and 2147m platinum between both players) will remain the same. The same restrictions remain in place as before; F2P players can only stake in Coins, not Platinum, and Ironmen can't stake at all. Upon entering a duel, you will be presented with the familiar options screen: Afterwards, you are taken to the staking screen. Here you can check the staking information as well as your opponent's worn equipment and inventory items (assuming you have the "Show Inventories" option enabled for your duel) by selecting the relevant icons. You can use the buttons beneath the displayed amount of Platinum or Gold to add to your stake or the Once agreed and accepted, the confirmation screen shown below will appear for you to check the staked amounts. There will still be a delay before you can confirm the duel and we encourage everyone to check the details of the duel before agreeing to them. After the duel, the rewards screen will show the amount that was staked by both players, the tax rate and the total winnings. OSRS Mobile: iOS Beta and Content Changes We'd like to thank the iOS players among you for being so patient. It's about to pay off. You've seen the Android Members beta, and the Soft Launch which followed, go from strength to strength, and now weve got some very exciting news to share with you. On Thursday 30th August we'll be launching our second, and final, closed iOS beta. For those of you who are unfamiliar with iOS testing, it is conducted via TestFlight which is Apple's platform for managing beta tests. TestFlight has a maximum capacity of 10,000 users, and so that means were able to get the iOS beta into the hands of 10,000 players. A closed beta means that it's invite-only. We know that it's been a while since the sign-ups for closed tests were open, and so in the sake of fairness we're going to be opening fresh sign-ups for this upcoming test. The sign-up form will be available between Friday 17th August and Monday 20th August. Make sure you keep an eye on the Old School homepage and our social channels to ensure that you don't miss your chance to register your interest! The keyboard no longer opens when clicking through the tutorial island chatbox messages. An example of transparent mobile overlays before and after. Changes to Smite The changes to Smite discussed in our PvP Changes and Upcoming Poll Blog have been made. You can now only be Smited in a single tick for an amount up to you current hitpoints. The special attack of the Ancient mace will still be applied in addition to Smite when it is active but total prayer reduction won't exceed the recipient's remaining hitpoints. In Other News Dense Runestones now appear darker when depleted. The notification for a decaying crossbow grapple is now highlighted. Inconsistencies within the Farming skill guide have been fixed. A spelling error in the Magic skill guide has been fixed. A typo during the Recipe for Disaster quest has been fixed. A typo has been fixed on the Rune thrownaxe special attack tooltip.
