  1. I think that clan beef shouldn't go to the extent of "killing/ending" another clan's existence. Secondly,  I think the amount of leaks clans use during a rivalry contributes to the demoralization process. Of course, people already know that having leaks prevents you (as a clan) from effectively making a battle plan against other clans. Lastly, pures could do away with the concept of ragging. Those are just a few key areas that could make it possible for these clans to return to OSRS.

At some point, people need to realize that every dog has their day. You won't win every prep, rivalry, or fight. You shouldn't sour over one singular loss whether it is a rivalry, prep, or wildy fight. Take the loss with dignity and show respect towards other clans. Bring back the environment that was present when the clan world was thriving in 2007-2011.

  2. It has been talked about plenty of times, but I don't really see any commitment. The argument for a 1 defence reset relies on the belief that mains won't interfere with pure clanning. With the services offered via discord, it would be easy for zerks to be created to rag pures. In reality, the same problems will exist no matter the defence level.

The only benefit I see from a 1 defence reset is possibly recruiting those that are involved with singles pking. In order to keep their interest, pure clans might have to increase their activity in the wilderness beyond the normal prep/event times. Basically "small man" pure clan trips at hotspot locations including the singles area.

It's been about closing the clan you're rivaling since the dawn of time, and ragging & 1 iteming isn't that big of a problem in the pure scene as opposed to the main scene. I wouldn't consider these an issue, moreso the main clans' involvement in the crash war. And if enemy clans wanted a 'breath of fresh air' they could always go to CWA to duke it out, but it's become a more and more common tactic to avoid such fights because said clans are afraid of a setback. Mind you these guys in charge of setting fights like those up are in their late 20s and scared how their online Runescape persona will look like if they lose 🥳

It never seemed like it was about closing the clan during the pre-eoc days, but then again most of my experience comes from the main community. I wish clans would settle it out with a potential time cap CWRI. I do agree though that the egos of the clan leaders are moreso the problem. At least in the past, clans were not afraid of losing.

  4. The current climate of the pure scene might be contributing to the destruction of it. Think about it.. What are you really doing when your intentions of a "rivalry" is to close the other clan? What happens if all power is consolidated in one clan? Strong minded clans won't close, but suffer from some kind of slump especially for not winning the propaganda/rivalry. Weak clans would close and disperse into remaining clans. The cycle will generally repeat itself until one clan exists.

I wouldn't blame the rivalry because any rivalry can essentially boost activity. However, I think the methods should change a bit. Maybe allow your rival to breath a little instead of smothering them every opportunity. Not all of the rivalries from pre-eoc era(main community) relied on starving the enemy of action. Even in cases of crash wars, it always led to uncapped fights between both rivals instead of avoidance. Nowadays, we would call this ragging/ 1-iteming until the other clan calls it quits.

However, I do believe the whole idea of 1 def reset (88 maxed cmb) would be very marketable for singles pkers. This could definitely revive the pure community, but I think the ragging would have to decrease to maintain a good environment.
