People's egos on a pixelated game, defending their runescape guild at the age of 25 is funny. If Sharkbrew shut down, and made the IRC/Discord inaccessible, half of you monkeys would be lost, scared to go on each other's TS to communicate (even though half of you can't read/write) and the pure scene would die pretty quickly. Dunno why you all criticise the site and refuse to do events over a few bad decisions.

We could have had this conversation 3-4 years ago and predicted it was going to go down this route. People have always discredited clan wars, despite the fact it is the fairer platform to fight in (unless in a full out capacity). People have always wanted to have some form of advantage to tip the scales in their favour - so have preferred the wilderness where they can abuse the occasional (or numerous) main and additional opt.

It was only a matter of time until Clan wars (and matched events like these) became redundant, for fear of losing. So it's not entirely surprising.

The only way that sites like this could probably entertain the notion of tournaments would be if the prizes for winning them were worthwhile  - but even then you'd probably get other elements of foul play like DDoSing, etc.

  2. The actual ability to finish a fight.

I haven't been to a trip in about 2 years and what stopped me wanting to go was every single fight turned into a 2 hour return fight because it was so easy to return and everyone just camped a teleport/return spot. It just turned into the same old thing, time and time again and became less about skill and more about who had the most patience/biggest return tabs.

It wasn't even the mains that bothered me.

[NME] Enemy is greatest clan name of all time, whoever came up with that is a top tier genius (it was me). Epidemic wasnt too shabby either. Not to mention the Epidemic Juniors, Epicdemic.

Outside of those I've always loved the name Fatality, excellent name.

Bloody hell, talk about a blast from the past. Hows it going?

Wanna get the gang together and reopen?

Enemy has the best name hands down for being the only clan to have an abbreviation say their name and their name is pretty damn good. It's natural and not tryhardish like most clan names during the osrs era.

Was a good name as we could make loads of puns/topical references that could be used in relation to trips/banter with other clans.

Epidemic/Fatality were/are good, clean, names. Liked Mayhem Makers too.

  5. People have short memories, lol.

MM are clear #1's but didn't always have that untouchable aura around them that everyone associates with them. They often dropped out of the top 3 for a few months at a time. However, the reason they go down in history as #1 is because whenever someone questioned their ability on the highest level - a full out - they pulled through and stomped what was in front of them. Then often carried that momentum for a couple of months before tailing off again.

I think that the only other clan that's able to do that now, is FOE. Even if they're slumping (I have no idea about the current scene), you'd always back them to be able to illustrate their strength in a full out - against almost every clan. Hence why they always seem to do well in the Jagex cup (or at least they have for the last 2-3 years).

  6. Good idea in theory and while this has been implemented in the past, it normally dies out after the initial hype.

When clans don't get their own way in terms of the rules, they'll just belittle the competition (and the site that runs it) and ask to be removed from the list. They always argue the competition doesn't show their full potential' as they'll be capped on members,  or they can't utilise their full strength due to defence caps or something cauliflower like they don't want to risk it all due to members being hit off - and that they'd much rather fight in the wilderness (so they can use their mains and it's easier to hide a loss).

It would probably work for some of the smaller clans and be a great opportunity to get some fights there, but I'd say with the top 3-4 - it wouldn't work and that kinda means that the 'list' would lose credibility because it would almost be a 'best of the rest' list.

  7. Jeez.

Just like clanning, different community sites will entice different people for numerous reasons. Just accept it and move on, no point trying to put each other down. Focus on making your own website better and that'll in time either 'beat' the competition or grow both sites/the community.

If another website is 'shady' let people learn that the hard way, don't try and educate them. You guys have kept this site relatively secure for however long and people acknowledge that - which is why you're still going.

  8. Tried this a fair bit in NME during the 1-10 defence days, worked pretty well when our opponents had mith/addy and ran out of run but was pretty pointless when it was an even playing field in robes.

We backed ourselves to be more organised than them, so we'd run/move and try and re-establish some different territory and try to bind/pick off stragglers who were too cauliflower to stick to the main group of their clan and were out of run due to armour. Eventually, if you could move together, you'd slowly pick off 2/3 guys each time and whittle the opponents down slightly.

Binds had to be on point and was pretty ineffective against an organised/aggressive clan.

  9. Not sure if people can remember but Klar (Ivp) and I created a pretty successful LPC scene a few years ago (2013, i think). We managed to get 5-6 clans to open up, compete and grow with each other for a few months with the intention of a couple of these LPC’s eventually feeding into the HPC’s. Has to be said it was a pretty successful project when you consider that one of the clans to come out of it was Supremacy - who are still kicking ass.

Obviously this would be a slightly different project with different goals, but I’ve got a bit of spare time nowadays, so wouldn’t mind helping someone associated to the site who wanted to try and get a project like this going. Just it would require a fair bit of time and support from the moderators/admins.

    *Edit*

People are forgetting that you don't need everyone in the scene to want it to work 100% of the time, just the majority. If clans get too cocky and rebel, you just need the majority of clans to abide by the rules/caps and create an alliance to beat down the 'rebel's.
