You're blaming one dude for fi's rivalry losses when in reality he was the only person that was trying to improve the clan and get to #1 while the other ranks were content with hiding around in the shadows. They would've had a chance at winning that rivalry if their rank team actually showed passion and tried, rather than sitting on the back of one person and praying they can do it all themselves. And that way, if the attempts at winning the rivalry failed, the other ranks could all pin it on Nick to avoid any damage to their egos.
 
Some people forget that it's a team effort, not an individual effort 
eg; Nick and Treehugger having bants working together to humiliate fi (which is working pretty well). Working together has a lot more potential!
