  1. Promotions I would like to thank everyone who took the time to apply for sharkbrew rank. Unfortunately for some of you, there are outstanding matters that have to be resolved before we promote you. For other applicants, congratulations and I am glad to have you onboard sharkbrew and I hope we can achieve the revitalization of the PvP and Clanning community together! @Brock @Jamz @Haro @FLOWER We are still looking for applications. If you like to apply, please do so by clicking the application form at the top of the site
  2. This announcement topic is to describe Sharkbrew's future goal for the community, why we need to achieve those goals, and how we are going to achieve them PvP & Clanning Updates Around June 2018, we were approached by Mod Sween from Jagex who wanted feedback on weapon mechanics updates that may affect PvP community. At that time, we did not have the community(esp. the main community) well integrated enough to help provide the necessary and feedback value that he was looking for. As a result, communications slowly died off and he eventually departed the site. As much as the JMods are game moderators and are community oriented, they are still answerable to a managerial chain of command whose primary aim is: How do we make more money? If I dedicate X number of Jmod hours on this update(business cost), will I get back Y amount of players(revenue). This could be one of the reasons why highly upvoted reddit posts often are addressed directly and even implemented in game by Jagex because they see the value in such posts. Thus, in order for PvP/clanning related update suggestion to achieve this same level of attention by Jagex, we have to emulate this value for them. Why should we going to provide this value? For years now, Jagex has either ignored or resisted our concerns and our appeals to introducing updates that would greatly benefit our community. Furthermore, as of late, they have implemented updates that have wiped out entire segments of our community. Unfortunately, due to the perceived small size of our community and our distinct dividedness, Jagex will continue to see us as the tiny minority of the community that they can continue to ignore without any risk or harm to their reputation. How are we going to provide this value? In order to provide this value, we need to centralize the entire community under one platform, this is so that ideas can be vetted within our scene, and thus we can provide the value, which reddit does already, of like-minded individuals who are ultra focused on this area of the game. Primary Goals - Activity and Ideas Create a portal that aggregates the activity of clanning and PvP Create a system that encourages the community to share ideas Generate community momentum behind said ideas With the above systems in place, we shall go on the offense and start pushing our ideas and agenda to Jagex and to the rest of the community Concurrent Goals - Addressing Fundamental challenges of Clanning Lowering the barrier of entry for recruitment Fully connect Sharkbrew with our other social media platforms Community Events Toxicity on Sharkbrew platforms Address or defend the image of clanning that has been heavily slated by bias 3rd party official fansites, i.e. Reddit Encourage members of the community to start new clans Activity and Ideas We have recently launched the League system that tracks CWA and wilderness activity of clans. The goal of this system is to encourage healthy competition between clans while also primarily serving as a recruitment and motivational tool for clans. As the Sharkbrew brand name is fairly well established, we want new visitors to the site to be impressed by the sheer activity that clanning provides. We hope that with majority of the clans joining our league system, we can then use this to attract like-minded members to start contributing PvP and clanning related ideas to help boost the interaction in the community- similar to the modus operandi of the working community at Reddit. Once we get the momentum going, it is going to be extremely difficult to stop. Secondly, we are going to expand the League system to include tracking individual Pking. This additional will complete the recruit cycle on sharkbrew- something which I will elaborate on later. Now with the community being behind said ideas that were generated before, our goal is to push these ideas on various forums to Jagex. Unlike the previous time where it was only 75~ votes and comments, we hope to aggregate the opinions of a few hundred active clanners, thus showing to Jagex that we mean quite a fair bit of business. Addressing Fundamental challenges of Clanning As we are facing an older user base with less time to commit to the rigors of clanning, Sharkbrew's goal is to reduce some of the monotonous tasks of running a clan, thus hopefully we can free up time for what leaders and members enjoy most about clanning- participating in events and fighting other clans Lowering the barrier of entry for recruitment All clans today actively recruit in game, and this is their primary source of active members. I have idled in 4 social CCs while training my med account, and I have come across quite a fair number of pures and PKers who generally dominate said discussions in those CCs. The market is there, but clans have to set aside time and effort to recruit such members. Passive recruitment The origins of a pure community/community forums(zybez) stems from the root idea that by posting your clan's aftermath topic, visitors to the site would be inclined to register on your clan forums to join your clan. This form of recruitment requires the least effort on behalf of the clan. Our goal is to improve the passive recruitment for all clans using sharkbrew, and we shall achieve this with the following: Merging Sharkbrew twitter Sharkbrew's twitter account currently runs a daily top BH hunter highscore list. Our audience base consist mostly of BH and 1v1 pkers. While our follower count is not amazing, our twitter posts reaches out to around 800-1k users daily. Our goal is to eventually post clan aftermath topics on our twitter and synchronize our twitter audience with Sharkbrew forums, thus exposing clans to a whole new audience base 1v1 ELO league system By expanding the league system to include 1v1 PKers, we hope to complete the recruitment cycle where players who are competitive in 1v1 uses our league system, is then exposed to clanning, and hopefully these players will eventually join one of the clans using Sharkbrew. @Moniwill be leading the above system Wiki System Our plan is to build a PvP and clanning oriented wiki system that contain guides for for clanning and PvPers. Written by people who know the scene best . With a bit of SEO management, we hope that our guides would be the first link people click when searching for "1 defense pure guide"/"how to make a zerk" on google, and ultimately be exposed to clanning when visiting our site @Eeveeis leading the above system Toxicity on Sharkbrew platforms We are aware of the toxicity that stems from our platforms, and in 2016 Sharkbrew can probably hold the record for being the most toxic community, unless you were also drinking tap water in flint michigan. Our goal is to significantly clamp down on the toxicity that stems from our platforms, both on forums and in discord. We understand that we cannot grow if we were to remain in a state of toxicity as new members would be put off from joining the clanning community. As such, the rules have been completely revamped and we are going to push for a competitive community that is also clean in the process @Eeveeis leading the the moderation team @Breakand @Yakis leading the mod team for discord Community Events In the coming months, you will see more community events being hosted by Sharkbrew. This is to publicize the strengths and activity of our scene when we eventually connect with our other social media platforms @Kyewill be leading this system Fully connect Sharkbrew with our other social media platforms As mentioned earlier, we will be synchronizing the forums with our twitter platform. Once we have enough users, we will be reaching out to reddit as well. The aim is once again to blast out the sheer activity of clanning. People are looking for clans on 2007scape reddit, however majority of the content is dominated by "Lets shit on clanning/pvp" memes that such posts don't get the attention they deserve. Address or defend the image of clanning that has been heavily slated by bias 3rd party official fansites, i.e. Reddit This is connected to the previous point where in addition to advertising the activity of clanning, we are also going to create a campaign to help mitigate some of the poor image clanning has suffered, i.e. under DMM/Mod Jed for example. Encourage members of the community to start new clans With the above objectives achieved, we hope more community members would be motivated to start a clan and join into the fight fest! Looking for New Ranks! In summary, to achieve all of our above goals, Sharkbrew is looking for new ranks. If you are motivated enough to help us and by extension help the community, please make an application topic here: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/application/form/3-apply-to-become-a-sharkbrew-rank/ In the application topic, we would like for you to state which system you like to work on/improve We also welcome any new ideas as we are flexible enough to incorporate new ones- as long as our goals are achieved!
  3. Introduction COTM/CWL/WCOTM used to be a household name for clans looking to compare their performance and activity in Clan Wars and Wilderness. You can find the origins with (former) sharkbrew rank @Bradenwho came up with the idea of tracking clan wars preps during an era where prep activity had all but collapsed. Thanks to his system, there was a noticeable increase in clan wars activity. Over the years, we have seen many changes, but the hardest hit so far was the migration of Sharkbrew from IPB3 to IPB4 in 2018. This had rendered all of our systems obsolete, and combined with my increased irl workload, I was not able to code up a replacement... until today: League System I have limited the number of dependencies with IPB, therefore we can foresee this system being used for many years to come! https://www.sharkbrew.com/?/league/clans/cwars https://www.sharkbrew.com/?/league/clans/wilderness This is a unified system that tracks both clan wars and wilderness. The system is based on weighted point values as shown here: Clan Wars This system tracks all preps(20v20+) and fullouts. Unlike previous systems, we award points based on rounds won. The formula goes as follows: For winners: points gained: numbers_of_rounds_won * 1.00(winner points) * 3 For the losers points lost: (total_number_of_rounds - number_of_rounds_won) * -0.75 * 3 To mitigate the effects of a loss, the losing clan will not lose as much points as gained by the winning clan. Also because we are counting rounds won, winning at least 1 round in a 3 round prep can prevent you from losing a lot of points! Also all preps are capped at 5 rounds to deter point farming. First to 25/50/100 counts as 1 round. Wilderness The goal of tracking wilderness activity ties into Sharkbrew future plans of advertising pure/main community events to the greater public with the help of sharkbrew's twitter account. This system is designed to demonstrate which clans have the most activity. I will post a topic in the future detailing our plans. There are no winners or losers; every topic(midweek/weekend counts). The higher the opts, the more points your clan will receive! Midweek: opts/10 * 0.2 * 3 Weekend: opts/10 * 1.50 * 3 When will the system start? I will be counting all events starting from the 18th of august onwards. How do I participate? For now, create a clan group: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/gc/cat/1-runescape-clans/ Then PM me on discord to be added to the system. I am working out kinks to the system. Promotions With these new systems up come with new promotions: @Break- Overseer- As one of our senior ranks I am thankful for your loyalty to this site. You been with Sharkbrew and by my side through Sharkbrew's ups and falls, and I thoroughly appreciate your presence on this site. You have put in a great amount of work into countless various systems that the sharkbrew community, and this new rank is the cumulative of everything your had done. @Yak- Mediator - Inspite of your many IRL commitments, you have dedicated yourself to the management and upkeep of the discord. Your activity has been excellent and I would like to see you achieve more with this rank With this out of the way, Sharkbrew is looking for new ranks to help us propel this community into the next phase. Within the next 2 weeks, we are going to promote no less than 6 new gatekeepers to help us run various systems. If you have already applied, please take note of your rank application topic link as I will need you to reply to a future topic indicating your continued interest at being a rank of this site. If you haven't applied, please feel free to apply by clicking the link at the top of this site
  4. Discord Moderator I have scrapped the discord moderator rank as it is too restrictive a rank for people who genuinely want to help out in all aspects of the pure community. Discord Restructuring I would like to thank everyone for their support as our discord is going to hit 2000 users woot!!! Realistically, Sharkbrew discord is primarily used for minis and generally flaming each other, but for most instances, I have seen general healthy conversations that take place most of the time. Our goal is to encourage and nurture both aspects. In light of the growth of activity, I would like to push for some changes, that I have yet to finalized this with my ranks, but on paper, I am looking to implement the following: If you are engaged in a flamewar, Sharkbrew ranks will not take action on any personal attacks against you. Sharkbrew staff members who are engaged in a flame wars will not have the authority to dish out any warns/mutes/bans unless IRL information is being posted. Failure to heed rightful instructions from a Sharkbrew rank will result in a warning, which is then upgraded to a ban or a mute if you fail to comply I would like some feedback to the above changes New Ranks We are looking to bring back WCOTM/COTM, and in the spirit of fair moderation, we are looking for clan members from clans who are severely underrepresented in Sharkbrew rank team. If you have about 30 mins a day to spare to the Pure Community, I urge you to sign up at the link in the header above.
  5. Retirement I regret to announce that owing to IRL obligations, the following ranks have stepped down: @Kim @IMK They each have contributed greatly to the site and they will be sorely missed. Promotions @Kye- As our de facto community events manager, his ability with organizing successful main and pure tournaments in the past has helped him earn this rank. I hope we can continue to benefit from his continued contributions ----------- Future Plans In the next coming weeks, I will be doing an overhaul of the old site systems and revamping the memberlist system. Do expect the return of WCOTM and COTM as I will be finishing the proper ELO table system that I haven't got around to completing in the past few months due to IRL work. Eventually, I will be integrating this site strongly with Sharkbrew's twitter page & our discord server to create a unified PvP platform, so stay tuned as there are big announcements coming soon in the near future. Talented Individuals If you are an individual who is extremely proficient at NH/Singles/BH pking, can spare 30 mins to an hour daily, and can play well in a team, please kindly drop me a private message on forums or on discord. We are looking for Pkers with varied backgrounds to help formulate and contribute to our upcoming PvP system. The one of the main goal of this system is to help alleviate many of the problems that plague the scene. While I can't say much as the details are still in the woodwork, your invaluable contributions will help shape the system and ultimately help the community you are so invested in. P.s. Do update your clan page and contribute to our newly re-released wiki https://www.sharkbrew.com/wiki/Main_Page
  6. Free teamspeaks for upcoming XLPCs With the release of F2P TB and the increase of interest in starting up a clan, Sharkbrew is offering free teamspeak hosting to any new clan popping up. Make an application here: https://www.sharkbrew.com/community/index.php?/application/form/4-free-teamspeak-hosting-for-xlpc/ and we will sort you out. Application shouldn't take more than a couple of days to process if everything is in order P.S. If you want to open your clan on the low key, feel free to make an incomplete aftermath topic- but we will need details including screenshots of ingame pulls to ensure that you have the foundations for starting a clan
  7. Discord: https://discord.gg/Y2nppv PM any admin for help!
  8. https://www.sharkbrew.com/wiki/Main_Page Over the past couple of weeks, I had been badgered by some community members to put up the wiki, so here it is! As each of you have a unique perspective and experience in your respective clanning community, I hope everyone will take some time to immortalize their slice of history by contributing their experiences to the wiki! Also while running the underdogs tournament, some of the newer clans are not aware of the basic clanning & prep terminologies. Thus, this wiki relaunch shall focus on building a guides repository, so that future clans leaders do not have to build their foundations from scratch. If you like to become a wiki editor, please do drop me a PM on forums or on discord.
  9. Sorry, this topic has been long overdue because I haven't had time to fix the problematic awards system that was only partially compatible with ipb 4.2. Without much (further) ado, Sharkbrew would like to congratulate Apex for beating FOE in the final round to win the Sharkbrew summer tournament. All prize money has been paid out, and all members in the Apex clan have received their forum medals
  10. https://discordapp.com/terms With the new politically correct rules that just came out for discord partnered servers on 1st Apr, the above TOS still applies for users of regular server. https://www.reddit.com/r/pcgaming/comments/b7eeii/discord_wants_to_censor_harmless_speech_while_the/ In view of this situation, keeping blast furnace(BF) in our discord, whilst it contributes greatly to activity, it risks your discord accounts getting restricted or deleted. Thus, I have removed BF so users may necessarily not be tempted to post content that contravened such rules. We will be also reviewing any BBQ weekend events and might possibly introduce future rules regarding this matter. This matter is not exclusive to Sharkbrew. If you are a clan discord owner, bear in mind that discord is clamping down heavily on hate speech and users in your discord could report each other for said offenses. There might be some restrictions in the future but we are observing the situation closely
  11. If you been living under a rock or haven't been up to date on the drama, here follows: POV from a FOE Member: POV from a ROT Member: Currently topics that implies mains ragging pures are locked or hidden depending on severity, and moderation in discord chat has been ramped up quite significantly. However with respect to topics and the nearly daily flamewars between FOE and ROT in Sharkbrew discord, has it been disrupting the flow of conversations in there? and is there anything else sharkbrew should be doing on the discord and forum side? The goal of this topic is to solicit feedback from the community as us rank have been bombarded with views from different bias angles and we wish to find out whether if it is necessary for us to step in further.
  12. Hello everyone! Im sure everyone had noticed a new addition to the team over the last few days. @Alan Rickmanhas been an immense help around the forums and Discord, and has been greatly involved with the community. Given his hard work ethic and attention to detail on the moderation team as well as community development projects, we have decided to promote him to Mediator. Take the time to say hello when you see him! There have also been some adjustments made to the forums to help cut down site clutter. The section buttons help with presentation and browsing by actively cutting down on-screen resources. We also have some projects we’ve been actively working on to help improve the community that we will be excited to share with you in the near future! Stay tuned for more coming announcements!

Please give a warm welcome to @Bryce@Uzi <3@Dead Ts @Pillow We expect great things from you! Don't let us down Gatekeeper Bryce Current FOE Applicant Elite in Intense Redemption from April 2017 - February 2019 Uzi Current Foe Member Founder of DT Discord Moderator This will be our last promotion for the Discord Moderator section for the next few months. 15. Good morning, Staff have been in discussions of what type of event to kick off the year with. We have taken note of certain community conflicts going on between clans. The best event, we could think of are team based entry tournaments. There was an interest for a mini tournament to be held in January, I hope those same groups will come forward for a fantastic turnout. When will this tournament be held? We're working out logistics in Sharkbrew HQ and giving out roles to staff members. We're hoping to begin the first rounds of tournament(s) in the ending of February or the first week of March. What do you mean by team based entry? You can create a team for the purpose of entering this tournament. Whenever your group is in different clans, they'll be allowed to enter the tournament with you. What will the rules be for said tournament or event? We will be hosting topics within team ambassadors section/public discussion after this weekend. Huh? Why are 2 v 2s a question within this poll? Our third question was a suggestion using channel #support within our discord. If you have any suggestions for our discord or for Sharkbrew in general. Post it in #support. The message will automatically deleted and be placed in a staff channel for staff members to discuss. Join our discord for discussions pertaining to the events!
  16. XLPC Wilderness Clan of The Month XLPC Clan of The Month Points System How It Works: WCOTM and COTM will both work under a point-based system. Points will be racked in different ways; clan wars action for COTM and wilderness action for WCOTM. On a week-to-week basis, Gatekeepers will be keeping track of these points and whoever accumulates the most in each category will win the award for the month. A few examples of PAST signatures: Wilderness Scoring Verified Official Weekend Trips; +2 Points Weekend Opt min; 20 Verified Unofficial Midweek Trips; +.5 Point Midweek Opt min; 12 Verified Player Kill Run-In's (PKRI's); +1 Point PKRI Opt min; 12 We would like to promote as much wilderness PVP activity as possible. Areas in the wilderness, along with PVP WORLD multi-based spots may constitute for points. Partially win or partially lose, we like to see a spike in XLPC-based activity. For wilderness topics to attain verification, there must be evidence of action against well-established PURE XLPC clans. This can be shown via screenshots & videos. For PKRI's, there MUST be evidence of action via logs or text against the established clan. An example can be seen below: If failure to provide the evidence of action via logs or text against the established clan, then you will receive a deduction of -.5 in points. You may only get 2 topics verified per day; ie. Midweek and/or PKRI, one for EST and one for GMT. Breaking Rules If a clan is seen and verified with the use of mains, their standings and current points will be deducted a -1 in points. If no topics are posted, clans may still dispute the use of mains during a PK trip. These can be disputed between ambassadors. Clan Wars Scoring BO3 (Best-out-of-3) Rounds; Set Win: +0.20 PointsSet Loss: +0.05 PointsA maximum of 4 BO3's may count per week 12v12 min. While the wilderness may be the zone for most to find action throughout the day, we would like to ensure a fair running for all clans without favoring or punishing big pulling clans. Clans Wars provides an even slate for all kinds of pulls. BO3's may consist of SCHEDULED PREPS. All CWA must be posted within 24 hours of the allotted time. Scheduled Preps (min. 25v25) adds +2.0 to the winner and +.8 to the loser There must be at LEAST 3 preps in the month (wins or losses) to be qualified for COTM! Point Penalty/Feeding You are allowed 1 Prep vs 2 Clans per day MAX 4 Preps vs 1 Clan per month MAX Every prep after 4 preps vs the same clan per month will constitute 0 points Breaking Rules Dirty tactics in clan wars, such as cape switching, rushing with an unwarranted opt amount, etc. may be up for point deduction based on the level of offense. Other clans can dispute preps they weren't involved in. Disputes Disputes may be done via the Ambassador Boards, forum PM, or Discord PM. They MUST have valid evidence behind claims and disputes using screenshots, videos, logs, etc. Must go through @DilL @Sauce@Kim Tie-Breakers (Clan Wars only) The top two clans regardless of score margin must battle it out to win. This battle must occur at the beginning of the next month. Must be 30v30 minimum Sharkbrew-Wide Events (2v2's/RvB's/Fun Events/etc) Points will be distributed to clans that participate in sharkbrew-wide events as deemed fit. Points will be decided by the COTM team.
  17. Mediator Promotion @DilL- Since Oct 2018, Dill has been working diligently on the xLPC scene, running events and managing the w308 discord. Having organized 2 xLPC events without any serious trouble and all while being a proponent for this new scene that needs the nurturing Dill provides, I am extremely proud to announce his promotion. Un-retirements After taking sometime off the community to pursue and settle their IRL commitments, I am glad to say that @Leninand @Kimhas returned to the community and have taken up their old rank positions. PVP Section I have created a new dedicated PvP section where you can show off your Pking Kills. Everyone has the ability to tag high priced item kills. Stay tune over the coming weeks as we will be hosting a pure mini tournament, and tools for pures and pkers alike on the home page

  21. Main Mediator Promotions @Paul - As an active player, a leader of a main clan, and has helped opened communication gateways with Jagex, Paul is our best candidate to represent and advance the interest the main community on sharkbrew and beyond. @Eevee - Having nearly 14 years experience in some of the largest main clans, and moderating forums and runescape, Eevee will be helping us building a community that is free of toxicity, while not ignoring the competitive roots that we all clanners come from. Gatekeeper Promotions We recently drained the swamp, having killed off most of our pure gatekeepers, so I am repromoting a bunch. Lets welcome: @Satans @Alan Rickman @Intense Yak @Sauce @Purefect @Nidoqueen @N Ranges For those who had applied and didn't make it, do not fret as many if you are in overly represented clans. We will still look at your application when positions open up in the future
  22. Community Code of Conduct Firstly, I would like to thank @Eevee(Victoria) for writing the new revised guidelines. Under these new guidelines, we are looking to build a community that is open, and attractive to new players, but yet still allow for the community banter that occurs between clans. With Victoria's vast experience moderating online communities, we will be able achieve this goal. Key Changes: Warning points now expire after 90 days(up from 30 days) Suspension for your first warn has significantly increased Community Disciplinarians Some sharkbrew ranks may have a subgroup called "Community Moderators". These ranks help upkeep and maintain the community rules. If you have any rule suggestions or like to report potential infringers, do drop them a message! Currently the following ranks in this subgroup are: @Eevee @Nolan @Caroline.
  23. Here at SharkBrew we're happy to support any tournament which is why we are endorsing Sanity's tournament. This tournament is set to rival the PvP Championship with a 1b prize pool and in competition/Jagex involvement. Mod Sween is working hard to get the turrets map remade to its pre eoc glory, there has also been talks of the winners getting an ingame statue. There are currently 13 clans/teams entering. Now without further ado here are all the details regarding the tournament. Welcome to Sanity’s tournament of champions! In order to be more inclusive & involve the whole Runescape community we’re hosting an RSB (maxed warring) clan wars tournament with RESTRICTED GEAR (Ely, Ancestral, Venom will be off). Hopefully this will leave the door open for many clans and teams who aren’t accustom to trying this style of fighting due to gear issues. We’re hoping running a 2-day tournament instead of weekly fights will ensure more focus throughout the tournament. Please read below. Tournament Discord: https://discord.gg/bgeaYxZ For more information about the tournament feel free to idle our discord channel.
