I feel like you should just follow your friends if your clan closed. Also I believe that if you wanted to be apart of a new community that's always possible Sharkbrew isn't a way to look for a clan tbh, you should talk to all clans and see what there like regardless if they pull 20 or 100. For ex personally before talking to rs and zu members I thought they all had downs but after talking to them I got a new perspective on them, both are actually very nice communities.
