Labeling someone with a generic group label is a kind of an offensive behaviour: a way of treating someone as a dismissive objectrather than a person. 'Communist' is merely one such label favored by old-school nationalists - it has its roots (in the US) in Cold War fanaticism -but people who use the term today do not care whether the person being targeted has anything whatsoever to do with communism.In fact, a considerable number of people who use the term as a label these days cannot effectively define communism orcommunist. They have one intention: to say: "This person is an X, so we can ignore/abuse them as we like".
