In my defence.. my core skills are databasing/algorithm design & networking i didn't really do frontend design until recently

Don't worry ahaha it's good that you are catching up as with the release of stuff like Boostrap and AngularJS it's fairly simple to create web applications that would originally be quite hard to construct.

I don't disagree that they are handy. but with increasing use of these libraries, today's programmers are getting more disjointed from the real meat of the language. Today the freelancer market is flooded with "programmers" and skids who only know how to use these libraries. They can only code linearly and these programmers fail spectacularly if you ask them to debug an existing project

True lol, a lot of my training consisted of using said frameworks instead of doing it all by hand. Although they are more than likely going to recruit senior developers who are like mid 30s to make any kind of fundamental object / architectural design and recruit new people to do front end work.

Most of the non technically inclined client(*cough* management) always go for cheaper is best.. only when brown sticky stuff hits the fan that they start throwing money at senr devs xD.
