Going back to basics + Temporary pardon

In light of the recent brown sticky stuffstorm, we are going to revise the rules on site back to the original rules that made sharkbrew great in the first place.

 

You will be warned if you:

 

1. Spam

    

   Flooding a topic with useless or irrelevant content to the discussion. Posting the same thing over and over again on one or more threads. (1 point)

    

   Example: "@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@ IM PO000000stin on da INTERNET @@@@@@@@ IM COOOL @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@hsdhshdahb HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA @@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@@"

    

    

2. Engage In Personal Insults/Attacks

    

   A bit of flame and banter is all in good fun, however insults directly targeted at an individual or his/her relatives in a malicious manner is not tolerated. (1 point)

    

   Example: "Slushpuppy you are a cauliflower moronic tofu"

    

   Exceptions:

   However backhanded or subliminal insults will be tolerated if not in exceed.

    

    

3. Leak Personal Information 

    

   Leaking personal information about an individual to the community is completely unacceptable, especially when aspects of people's lives are brought up that they have specifically chosen not to share. Names, pictures, contact information, social media identities and ip addresses are counted as personal information. (2-7 points)

    

   Example: "Hey, did you guys know that Wardy lives at 69 Sexton Street, Sexyville? What a loser!".

    

   Exceptions:

    

   -If user posted their own information on public topics in any runescape community forum/clan forum.

    

4. Leak Clan Information

    

   Posting screenshots, videos, recordings, text or links to the beforementioned that are not publicly obtainable via a clan's public assets, such as leaderboards or chat logs.(2-7 points)

    

   Exceptions:

   - For audio recordings, anything under 20 seconds is allowable

   - IRC staff/scout channels; anything under 5 lines is allowable

    

   Any attempts to circumvent said rules like posting multiple short recordings or short lines in different posts will result in an infraction or whole topic deleted.

    

5. Behave In A Threatening Manner
   

    

   Threatening to attack, ddos, hack or threatening to break other Sharkbrew rules, including encourages others to engage in such activities. (2-4 points)

 

 

Your Topic May Be Locked/Hidden if:

 

1. Topic is not relevant to the forums it resides in
   

    

   Example: Posting a topic about sunflowers in the clan discussion forums

    

2. A Lack of healthy discussion is taking place
   

    

   When the topic degenerates into a spam/troll fest, the Mediators/Respecteds have the power to lock/hide a topic.

    

   This is a non exhaustive list of common spam/troll patterns that will result in action being taken against your topic:

• Quote Towers

• Same group of people(different account with the same agenda) bumping up the topic

• Going off topic

• Flamewars that are not relevant to the original topic

 

TL;DR Don't do anything in excess, else prepare to face the consequences.

These new rules will render the old rules void and null.

 

As such, I will be issuing a temporary pardon to all those who have been suspended during the past week(warn points will not be reduced however).

..and what impact will this have on a community now known to be toxic. Staff above all are bias and immature, how can you expect members not to be alike. The only content getting passed around now revolves around toxicity. You're a bit too late to enforce this, maybe begin with your mediators and work your way up to having a healthier staff, then work on controlling community behaviour.
